1986 Case 450C dozer shifting hard

I just picked up a sweet little case 450C always wanted one.
Has 5200 hours or so, Its got some odd things. The left slide like to shift hard, high or low. the right side is nice and smooth.. why?
Also when it sets over night it takes 5-20 seconds to build press and move at all...
I know some of you are are the 450C masters!!

I have a 1979 Case 450 crawler with the same issue: left "fwd/back" lever shifts much harder than the right one. I haven't tried to work on it yet, but it would drive much better if they were the same. Perhaps there's a detent ball/spring that holds the lever in "neutral"? I'll do some poking around in the near future. ---Bobbie G
