want to know where the oil level should be at the fill caps on the rear axel just under the seat. The sumps are most likely split see there are two drains. I only have one dip stick. Is it for the transmision only? I really need some good info. I haven't been able to find a manual.

I'm thinking you haven't looked too hard for an operator's manual, thay can be ordered from NH's 800 number, or online. Or from one of several vendors of reprinted manuals, or eBay. Call 1-800-635-4913 or visit https://www.newhollandtechpubs.com/ .

As you suspect, the transmission and rear axle/hydraulic reservior are separate. The dipstick in the transmission shift cover handles the transmission. There is a level plug on the right side of the rear axle center section. It is a3/8" pipe plug, usually square headed, located above the rear edge of the RH running board/footrest. To make it easier to remove and replace, I put the female end of a 3/8 drive socket extension over the plug's head, then a small adjustable wrench over the male end of the extension.

I thank you ever so much. I will sure check out that NH site. I had a manual sent to me but it was for 4610SU prior to 84 and sent it back. It was a reprint. That socket extension was a good idea too for the plug. I saw that plug and didn't know what it was. So I guess I use the same hydro fluid from front to back?

Yes, use the same uiversal tractor hydraulic/wet brake oil (meeting NH spec 134D) in each as well as the power steering reservoir. I misrepresented the rear axle level plug. It is a 1/4" pipe plug, usually havig a 3/8" square head.

Thanks. I removed that plug and didn't think I was going to get it back in for the fluid pouring out. The fluid there was darker than what shows up on the dipstick but I plan on changing both anyway.
