anybody know where the double wire under the battery tray is supposed to connect it is unshielded so I am guessing it is for a ground??? any help would be great, thanks

There is unshielded an there is uninsulated or bare wire. Shielding is usually used to reduce RF interference. Insulation protects the conductor from grounding out. A bare wire or braid is usually a ground wire.
