Silly question: Do you have a service manual? If not maybe someone will post here that has one. (you really should get the manual yourself)
I own a NH L555 skid steer, it's a a little involved to replace the axle seals on it.. not sure how big a job on yours.

I own a 4500 gehl and need to replace the starter and cant find a service manual for it, did you find one ? if so and if you don't need it I would buy it or let me know where you got it from. Thanks Bob

Bob I've been Told that it's the same as a Pinto /Fiesta Motor I ordered On for mine a While ago and found I didn't Need it . But it Was the Same . For Some Reason my 4500 keeps not wanting to turnover I've checked all the Cables and connections. I thought maybe it was the old ford thing where the starter locks into the flywheel but turned it over by hand with the fan and still the same thing . I took the Starter off (What a ***** )and bench tested it and put it back on and worked fine for a while. This thing is driving me. It does not make any sense that the starter will bench test ok and then not work good again after a bit. I thought that maybe it has a dead spot but bench test good ! Any Ideas . I bet yours is the Same Problem ! Thanks Al

Al, Thanks for the reply, I believe it is the same problem mine is intermittent some days it will start right off and other days it does act like it is locked up the solenoid kicks in and draws current but the motor wont turn. One day it would not start I reached down with a plastic handle pry bar and shorted the battery hot to the solenoid switch wire on the solenoid and it started and then worked for a while again. I would really like to get a repair manual for it for I plan to rebuild the motor and all worn parts. Thanks Bob

Bob My Little Brother works at napa. I contacted him to day and he did some research for me . We found that The Starter is a 1978 -1978 Ford Fiesta.It says Fiesta and Gehl 4500 Skid steer right in the Catolog ! So The Part Number on a Life time Warranty is # 44-4877 For 46.00 The one year warranty is # 244-4877 for 39.00. I'm gonna Put a New starter on the Dang thing a Go for Broke. I ask My Brother is The lifetimer went bad if he was gonna replace it for me the labor. He said it was all mine Deal. He's Stand behind the part !When your old and Fat ya Don't Bend like ya Used to Fer sure ! I had to GEt one out of Chicago . They don't sell Many Any more I guess. I hope this helps ya Bob.

We ordered that Starter up and it is not the Correct one for the 4500. The Bolt Circle Was 1/2 short of fitting! I'm Still Looking for a starter . If ya Come up with anything Please let me know ! Al

Anyone With a HL 4500 Gehl Skid Steer With a Ford industrial Motor. I found The Dam Correct Starter Finally after Weeks of Research ! My Starter had No Numbers on it nothing to go on. Well I found Out what it is if it will help any one.
Ford Part # 83 BB 11000 AB Or Bosch # 0001111025. The Starter is An English Ford Number. I So Far have not found in For a Good Price here in the USA. But I'm Still Looking ! So Far I've Found It from 568.00-325.00 But It got to Be Cheaper Out there ! I hope this Helps ya If your in the market for one too !

Well After all THe Messing around I finally Found a Starter that Fit the Dam Thing Bosch # 16405 I found it at Daves Battery in Grand Rapids Mi ! 210.00 Way Better Than Buying it at Parts depot for 568.00
