1979 Ford 1500
Like the title says I'd like to know what kind of coolant to use when I replace the radiator on our 1979 Ford 1500. Preferably a type available at NAPA or OReilly's or John Deere.

Thanks!

We always run the old green anti freeze in ours. It's a 1900 bought in 1980. We put the battery in a marine battery box in the mid 80's. The fan pulls acid through the radiator. Been good since then.

Any ethylene glycol based antifreeze mixed 50/50 with distilled water should work. Prestone even has one that's supposed to be compatible with other types of antifreeze.

Interesting about the marine battery box. In what way did the acid from the battery damage the radiator?

Or change to an SLA battery. It doesn’t spill.
