1974 JD 140 H3

Im lookin at jd 140 to buy.The guy wants $1200.It has just the mower deck and no other attachments.This will be my first JD tractor.Any advice would help

How nice is the 140? The price sounds high to me. My brother purchased a JD 120 for $600 a few years ago. It was a 6 out of 10. It included a mower deck, snowblower, and a REALLY nice cab enclosure.

In my opinion, I would take a JD 140 over a later 318. The 140 is a simple, intuitive design. Visit Weekend Freedom Machines for more info. Many people feel that both of those John Deere models battle for the top position of Best Lawn & Garden Tractor Ever.

Thanks for the info junkie.This tractor is in very good shape.Everything operates properly,But there is only the mower deck to go w/ it.However it is an H3 model so there is a lot of potential to expand.
