Nice car! Does it have a 455 or 400 in it? Last big Pontiac my parents had was a '75 GrandVille with a 455.

Jesse, it is a 455, that was the only engine that you could get in the GrandVille convertible. It has ps, pb, ac, power seat, tilt wheel, and am/fm stereo. No cruise. The original spare is in the trunk and has never been on the car. It's a bias tire and the car has radials that were put on before I got the car 11 years ago. It had 21,000 miles when I got it, I don't drive it much. Has the same battery that it had when I bought it, it probably won't last much longer. The water pump went out on me setting in the shed, I noticed anti-freeze under the car one day. The car hadn't been started in over 4 months.

I'd guess if the spare was a Goodyear it's a PolyGlas or PolySteel tire. Don't remember what a Firestone was.

The GrandVille was a great car. That 455 with a 4 bbl. could really bellow at full throttle.

A friend of mine has a red & white'75 grandville conv. He got from his dad who bought it new. He drives it in the pro football hall of fame parade in Canton, Oh every summer. He's hauled quite a few ex football players it it. He has to dress in a suit or tux to drive in the summer parade(HOT !), says it's quite the parade & party !! I've ridden in it...........455, auto........Quite the land yacht !!! If you ever watch the parade....look for the red grandville with the white interior.........Tom

Yep, that's a nice site. The owner is Peter Klutt (sp?) who is on the show Dream Car Garage on Speed Channel.

The last time I was looking to buy a car, I had decided what I wanted to spend. I looked at what kind of new car I could get, then I looked at used cars then finally got a price list from Legendary Motorcars. (I sent them an email and got the price list back within 24 hours) At the time I could have gotten a restored Nova SS350, 4 spd, AC, AM/FM, etc. which I considered much more for the money than a new car. My wife didn't see it that way. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Odds are that any Mopar performance car, like a Super Bee, is going to be costly. Occasionally, they get a Challenger/Barracuda with a 318, but if it's got a 340 or 383 the price goes up. If it's got a 426 or a 440... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I feel your pain seems my wife doesn't appreciate the value of older classic cars, she does however seem somewhat receptive to me inquiring about a 67' Sport Fury my father-in-law sold several years ago that the current owners are thinking of selling so Mopar Muscle may be in my future. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Kinda funny, cause out of all the 'Birds, I like the Superbirds, and the Roadrunner I had, a '73/74. Although mine was the end of the line, smogged out little engine, it still ran good and handled well.

My "dream" is to get another '73/74. I'd like to build one with a smallblock manual, and do some autocross type suspension upgrades. Visually, it would look like mine did; white with black strobe strip, black interior with buckets and console. Other idea, er... grand illusion, was to drop a V10 viper crate motor in one, and find a 6spd manual setup... That's all after I hit the lottery, that I never play... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Mine looked just like this, except for the rims. I'll have to dig around for some pictures. Wish I stil had it. It got hit in the side, and I got a Trans Am, because the Roadrunner was not drivable; fixable but not drivable. I sold it instead of fixing it. Dang...
'74 Bird

Had a '70 SuperBird in the early 70's that I rebuilt from a wreck. 440 6 pack 4 speed. Drove it in fully restored condition for about 3 weeks, was circling the local burg, foot slipped from clutch and rearended the car ahead. Aluminum nose was not the thing to do that with.

Rebuilt the front end, not a cheap proposition even at that time, got an offer to sell it for $5,000 and took it. That was in 1974, a year after I got out of high school, was almost twice what I had in it. You know what that all original, numbers matching car would be worth now? I do, but I try not to think about it. Unfortunately, the person I sold it to was no smarter than I and it is now just a memory. Tried to find pics, but only have a pen and ink framed drawing my brother and law did from a picture, too big to scan.
