Hello everyone,
On what part of the flywheel are the "S" & "T" timing marks located on a Kohler 181S?
I've rotated the flywheel through several complete revolutions and haven't found them yet. I see part of the ring gear and the machined lip adjacent to it on the bottom of the flywheel (closest to bearing plate) thru the hole in shroud below the model number plate.
I've installed a replacement magneto coil, condenser and points. I set the gap to 0.020" after rotating flywheel until points were at their widest opening.
The engine starts hard and once started runs erratically. It doesn't get to full speed and with each exhaust stroke puffs out white smoke with a strong odor.
I was expecting a little smoke from oil in the cylinder burning off (see my thread "Bad day") but not this much. Could the plug be fouled?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
