So, no markings on ANY of the posts of the solenoid...

I hope you realize what you are asking for and how little you are giving us to go on. Well,If you think you are up for the task,I know that I am. #1. You should have been charging battery while planning next step. A new tractors will not start with a dead battery. #2. Make sure cables are bright-shiny clean at ALL connections, including - cable to engine block. #3. Clean surface where solenoid bolt's to and make sure bolts are tight. Try starting tractor. If engine does not turn over, don't keep on flogging it,that's how you got here to begin with. If that didn't make something happen you will have to help us figure out that hermaphrodite solenoid and mark the posts before doing anything else, unless you want to make smoke and sparks. Remove all cables and wires from posts. Set meter to ohms, one probe to either LARGE post, touch each small post with other probe. Repeat on OTHER LARGE post. Only one combonation should have a reading and that tells us LARGE is battery cable and SMALL is start, mark them. The other Large go's to starter and other small is ignition but will not be used until if and when we rewire tractor at a later date. If neither LARGE / SMALL combo gives a reading, stop here and report because we are dealing with an uncommon solenoid. If one of conbos give a reading, put wires and cables back on solenoid posts as you just amrked then try starting tractor. REPORT BACK ON WHAT HAPPENS. Good luck.
