1963 ford 2000
Good afternoon,

As the title states, I have a 63 2000 4 cylinder 4 speed that was given to me by my step father. It was pretty rough and has needed a lot of work.

I replaced the whole hydraulic system except for the two o rings at the back of transmission, as I didn’t want to have to split it.

I finally hooked a rear blade up to it, and it instantly blew the o-rings at rear of transmission….

now I need to rear split the tractor. What is involved with rear splitting this tractor? As far as what needs to be disconnected to make it happen.

the service manual alludes to just needing to pull pto lever, unbolt it and split it apart. It was kind of vague, but is it really that easy?

It really is that easy, support the front end on cribbing and the back supported by the floor jack then rolled them apart.

While you have it split is the time to replace any worn parts etc.. look it over good while your in it!! My NTM same 63 2000. The 2 stage clutch was stuck engaged and no Rev.. With a FEL. I opted to take it to the shop. In Business for Decades and they had trouble. They had to go back in it!! Just the shifter this time though. It's keeper now and mentioned the setup also!. Old and only 1 good arm so It was my best interest to send it to them. ;)

Welcome to TBN!

As @John0829 said, it is that easy. Not sure why the PTO needs to be disconnected though.

Actually I think it really means to remove the PTO shaft itself. 4 bolts and the shaft is out and it makes it easier to get both halves back together only having to get one set of splines aligned.
