1963 4000 Ford - Lift Lever / 3 Point Problems

Has anyone encountered this situation: Touch control lever is sitting about mid-way on the quadrant and will only move about an inch. If you hold up, the 3 point will raise, but you have to maintain up pressure on the lever or 3 point will drop. It would seem like a problem with the linkage, but for the life of me, I cannot detect anything wrong with it. Any words of wisdom?

It sounds as though the top cover will need to come off so the linkage adjustment can be checked. Check for any broken or bent linkage and check all the pivot pins for wear as these can cause your troubles. While the cover is off a new relief valve can be installed as the old one could have gunk holding it open a little causing it to leak.
