1948 8n should the pto run when clutch is pushed in

Just like the title say. Should the pto run when the clutch is pushed in. If so where do I look to fix the pto from shutting off.

No,not designed that way. That's one of the biggest problems with the old 8n,9n s.

What I have is my pto only works if the clutch is out. So if I want push in the clutch to change gears the pto stops.

Yes, Put it in gear and plow to the end of the row. Push in clutch,PTO stops, put shifter in neutral, let out on clutch and 3pt picks up implement, pto is running again?. Turn around drop Implement and start over?

Thanks guys for the replys. That is what I have been doing. Just wanted to make sure that there was not something wrong. That pto lever is in a awkward spot. However I found a link to a place that make a relocation handle for the pto activation lever and I can deal with the hight handle where it is located.

All in all I love this little tractor. I think that no matter what I get in the future I will also be keeping this one to do small stuff around the farm.

Yup, try running a haybaler with one of those things. Its why they put Wisconsin motors on balers.

Depth control under the seat,small lever about 3 inches long, you can flip it and if tractor tires spin it will auto-pick up on plow??On depth control and pick-up lever, set the slide to catch the handle at preset position...makes it faster at the end of rows...I used mine for years, had to rebuild it and still keep it for spare.1952, with tach..

it's a draft control.. not depth. ( assuming you are in draft mode and not position mode anyway.. )

draft is set as a constant.. depth is the variable based on soil and implement.

common misnomer..
