1862 Kohler Magnum 18 -operating temp?

Yes - mine is happy and hot too! Since I got the Ferris the cub doesnt get as much excercise anymore - now that the fuel issue is resolved and fins are clean its happy. I replaced the plugs 4 years ago and do oil once a year with SAE 30 and it runs like a champ now. Was really surprised how clean the plugs were.

Your 1862 with that paint scheme is much "hotter" than my plain Jane 1811..

Ok Carl.I'll check that.I had figured that if it was the coil I'd be able to flood it.but so far not even a gas smell. It cranks over and over and over great but takes almost forever to start. fortunatly now with all this hot weather and no rain the grass is hardly growing. Wife has been watering the trees and her flowers but the lawn is to big to attempt to water. and it's mostly weeds anyhow.Thanks guys. (Wait till I tell the wife to blow into the gas tank?????I can hear her response now!!!!

No blowing gas at your house - OK after reading what you said about no gas smell, I wanted to comment on the before and after experience on the fuel pump.

Normally when cold it would take 5-6 seconds to get fuel and fire off. After changing the fuel pump it started yesterday in 1-2 seconds without choking! I think the new seals in the pump hold the gas in the line to the carb.

On the 1863 the tank is below the engine so you may be getting drain back due to leaking seal in the fuel pump?
