1715 will not go into gear. clutch?

Hey, I am a new member and first time tractor owner.
I have a 1995 ford 1715 W/ bucket .
I was pushing A manure pile with the bucket and the tractor and it stopped.
It feels like it's in between gears I put the clutch in and can shift gears
but when I let out the clutch It tries to go Into gear and skips and starts to roll a couple inches and stops. Is this a clutch out or somthing shifted inbetween gears?

I had a situation like that with my 1700. I have both gear shifter and range shifter. The shifter was stuck in between the two gears. There is a detent ball and spring theta keep the shifter solidly where it need to be. Any how I ended up loosening the shifter bracket to position the detent ball correctly. Does your shifter moves freely? does it stay in intended position without jumping?

Yes, the shifter moves freely and stays In position but when in gear You hear
grinding of and on trying to catch a gear.

Ron,

Does it grind when in gear and clutch pedal fully pushed in all the way? if so, then release fork may need to be adjusted closer to the fingers on the pressure plate allowing you to fully disengage engine to transmission input shift.
