1700 Ford 4X4 tractor

When changing gears it doent make a change in speed but it is will stop traveling if you try to run over a 2x4 but I can put it the lowest gear and if I get a running start lol it will cross a 2x4. Basically what I'm very poorly trying to say is the speed may increase a small amount but if so its minimal. Also, it won't move at all if you try to take off in any gear other than low gear and after its rolling you can switch to a higher gear. Thank you very much for your reply.
Since it is an all mechanical drive, if the engine is turning the tractor should be moving, encountering an object like a 2x4 the tractor should either stall, or roll over it. Your only point of slippage is the clutch. I have a 1715 and clutch adjustment is simple. There is a threaded rod on the left side attached to the clutch pedal underneath the foot rest. Turn the nuts to either shorten or lengthen the rod (can't remember which) until you have at least an inch of pedal free travel. If you can't get the free travel, you need a new clutch.
