Got a huge job, and the guy is a wee unsure of how many acres he has (he has more than he thinks, all my timings and applications were off)

Suggestion - google maps and yahoo maps have good satellite photos of a lot of areas now (it seems Yahoo is ahead). You can punch in the job's address, get a satellite photo, then start figuring out actual acreage using the little rulers on the bottom left of the map display. This was extremely helpful for me in determining that my property's hayfield, advertised as 6 acres, was actually about 4.5 (would have been 5.0 if the prior owner hadn't been mowing 40 feet along the driveway as lawn!).

It can be interesting to watch the hour meter on a machine after working on it all day for a few days. We just got a new piece of equipment in at work and I've been assigned to it for the past couple of weeks. We've been rained out a few days so it hasn't been constant but I've taken it from 3 hours up to 56. I'm guessing I'll hit 100 on it some time next week...

When using the hour meter on the machine just be sure and check if it true hours or rpm based hours.

I'ts on the boat!!!!! It's supposed to be at the dealer, end of May, probably another week to ship it here, I should have it first week of June. (at which time I'm sure the business will slow right down )

Mowed 8 acres
Aerated 8 acres
Fertilized, seeded, ripped 2 acres.
Got rained on, and that was it. (I was working hard to get teh seed and fertilizer down before the storm)
But hey, it's good to be busy, but I am exhausted and if it dries out today, off I go for more.

Yeah, does give me more sympathy for the farmers, when it's time, it's time, you gotta do it.

You need a BIGGER TRACTOR...
