Massey Ferguson 1660 Dyna QPS
Just getting used to a new machine and noticed something that is probably insignificant. When parked on flat ground, brakes off, and the shuttle lever in neutral, I can detect a small movement when I change ranges on the gear shift. Not exactly sure of the mechanics on a power shuttle, could be perfectly normal, but on a standard dry clutch like I have always had this is a sure fire sign of trouble. For what its worth, the tractor has 100 hours on it and its a Dyna QPS transmission.

Not near mine or I'd try what you're experiencing. Are you noticing trouble shifting or were you just playing around and picked up on it?

I noticed the same thing with mine, it seems to be more noticeable when the hydraulic oil is cold. I would have never noticed it if the gear selection would not default back to 1st gear every time you shut the tractor off.

It shifts fine, shuttle seems fine, nothing else noticabley wrong. Could be a cold oil issue, been pretty cold the last couple of days here. I'll get it warmed up good this weekend and see what it acts like.

Probably just movement as the gears shift and get adjusted to each other. Without the clutch in your transmission is still turning like its trying to move.

I have the same trans on a new 1648, does the same thing.

Asked my wife to try ours, she detected some movement as well

I've noticed it too on the 1652. Mostly in cold weather. Just the gears linning up with each other.

This is normal and the amount of creep veries by tractor. What you are seeing is the result of viscous drag on the clutch pack from the hydraulic oil. As some one stated it is more notiab le when cold. Depending on tractor size there is a pass/fail test a dealer can perform. Basiacally but the tractor in 2wd, let off the brake and place a round pipe infront of the rear tire (pipe diameter depends on tractor size). If tractor can not creep over the pipe it is within the acceptible limit.
