I'm thinking of making an offer on a 1610d with a Koyker 110 loader. Everything seems to work as it should and it rides nice (although I have no experience to compare it to).

Both of the front wheel hubs are leaking as is the front differential. Enough that I could see spots on the gravel where it was parked. I don't think it is possible that the differential leak could run down to both axles but I can't completely rule it out.

I would like to make the owner an offer but feel I need to take into account worst case scenario parts and labor to have it repaired.

Also the brakes are very weak and possibly not working at all. While that might be a simple adjustment I need to take into account worst case scenario on that also.

Tractor doesn't have ROPS but does look to have the PTO guard.

Pics attached.

What's it worth?

Thanks.

As it sets, I would offer $4000 and maybe $4500 with the leaks fixed. I ran one just like it for 3 or 4 years and it was a dependable unit for the dollar spent. Ken Sweet

Brake shoes are $85 or so, and the drum is most likely fine. If you need seals for it if there leaking add $40 for both sides. This is if you do the brakes your self. But there is a good bit of adjustment on them that is just a turnbuckle that you tighten to allow the petal to push them out farther.

The front knuckle is a common problem but I don't remember the parts and I don't think its a terrible job for a DIYer just a pain to do all that work for a small leak. The diff leak is possibly just a gasket as well. But I wouldn't think your looking at $100 or parts for those leaks and that would again be doing it yourself. If your paying someone could start anywhere from $30-$120 an hour and up depending on if its a local shade tree guy or you take it to a tractor shop. Brakes can be done assuming the cams are not stuck in just a short period if you know what your doing. the replacement can be done easily in 2 hours, adjustment can be done in 10 mins. Front seals I would imagne a half a day for all of them at worst? But I don't know.

Yep has 3 separate leaks, swivel hubs and axle tube by the looks of it.

I'm cheap, I would operate if for a month or two and see if the leaks are tolerable before deciding to tear it apart. The last guy just lived with it as-is.

And - with such nice paint that looks to be a cleaned up "reconditioned" Yanmar. It can't have that many hours of use over here. I'm surprised it was released for sale if the hubs were starting to leak when it was "reconditioned".

The current owner bought it around 2004. He said he has never bothered changing the fluid in the differential. That concerns me somewhat. Anyway I found a Zen Noh to look at which hopefully is in better shape. It's a Yanmar 3110D with a Kokyer 140. The 1610 might be a tad small for my needs.

Not sure why. The 4wd models generally have the 160 and the 2wd the 140. I'm assuming the 140 is better than the japan VN loader that a lot of them have?

It is a Zen Noh branded 3110d so I'm guessing it didn't come into the states with a loader and the importer put a 140 on it. Unless they sell Koykers in Japan. They are made in South Dakota.

the vn loaders are (I believe) chinese loaders. I know there not japan loaders. My tractor is a Zen Noh branded tractor... An early fredricks tractor had these decals.. I don't know who else may have branded them Zen Noh..

I have a cousin that lives in your state.. She's from the south. but,she loves it there. Belgrade Montana

My front seals leak.. too lazy to repair them.. I put thick STP in the front end

Use LUCAS power Steering Stop Leak. Been using it in the gear box of my rotary cutter and the PS rack and pinion of my '90 Chev APV for about 10 years now.
