1541 cub cadet

i own a 1541 cub cadet. on the air cleaner it says that it is a "magnum 15" kohler engine. looking at kohlers web site, they do not show a magnum 15. does anyone know what horsepower a magnum 15 is? i heard that it may be 18 horse. anyone know?

That is actually a Magnum 18 as shown on the engine ID tag, it was a marketing decision Cub made to have an offering that countered the Deere product back then. That engine was placed in the 1535 (gear) and 1541 (hydro) models of Cub Cadet.
It may infact have a small throttle stop installed, as Kohler uses these on many of their engines when a larger model is "detuned" such as with thei 999cc engines, rated from 34-40 HP with the only limiting factor being the throttle stops.

thanks jim.
i heard that it was an 18 hp motor but i wasn't sure. i will look for the tag when i get a chance. i am presently cleaning and repainting my mower deck and brackets. i do not recall it having a throttle stop on it. is it internal or external?
