What am I going to be loooking at and what would probably be the parts i will be replacing. ive worked on truck powerr steering gears but not a tractor, havent realy had tkis one long. any help would be appreciated.

If I remember correctly there is a hydraulic line on the left side of the column. At the base. Maybe you will get lucky and find it's loose and leaking. With hard left steering problem sounds like it's in the column. Sorry I can't be more help.

Sorry but the PS supply line is on RH(passengers)side.

More than likely the leak cure will be installing this kit(AT315816 KIT, OVERHAUL ADD 70.75 USD) which can be accomplishing by removing steering shaft with valves attached without needing to remove steering valve housing from tractor.
Hard steering in one or both directions could be simply a failed o-ring(parts key #4) or this valve(AR81610 BODY STEERING VALVE ASSEMBLY ADD 251.51)

Your right TXjim, it's the other left (right) for the hydraulic connection  I should not have gone from memory  Line comes up from priority valve on the RIGHT side of the tractor.

I've never been into the steering column for repairs, is this a special tool, dealer job? If so I'd let them do it.

Technically the PS line attaches to a line leading from main hyd to the priority valve. PS line is parts key # 1 and supply line is parts key # 6. The only special tools required are a spanner wrench and a long pick to R&R the 6 larger o-rings. I've used a pipe wrench or large slip joint pliers in lieu of spanner wrench

I went out and took a better look at it after pulling the sheet metal and to find out what I could see. I looked in the bottom ,didnt see any lines broken or leaking, it was leaking out of the colunm, around the base and coming out the top of the colunm.
it appears to be fairly straight forward once I can figure out the procedure. does the whole assembly come out as a unit or does the housing slip off of the shaft? it doesnt appear that the steering colunm has been off in a while I

Thanks , Tony

You can remove steering wheel, then large adjusting nut,set steering wheel back on shaft and turn steering wheel to the left and the shaft and valves will come out the top of housing. No need to remove housing to change the 6 big o-rings.

thanks a million, Ijust ordered a shop manual, should have done it when I got the tractor.Iwill try to get the kit from the dealer tomorrow.

Im a little confused on the tractor being a 1530, the engine ID plate says made in France,I thought the 1530 was made in Germany I cant seem to reference the numbers anywhere, type-3164DL-13 SERIES- 198005CD, the tractor serial number is covered up by the loader frame.
also it has 38 inch wheels ,thought it was supposed to have 28s and has 2 7/8 adjustable axles, Iguess I need to get a little better educated on these tractors it has 1530 decals on the hood . In any case Ido like the tractor althuogh I have only had it a short time, it is much more than the yanmar that I have and handles the loader just fine starts right up every time.

Once again thanks for the help, this is a excellent website.
