Ford 1520 4WD
I've recently acquired a Ford 1520 4WD with a NH 7308 loader. I have the opportunity to buy a barely used 758B backhoe at a very good price. Most of the information out there says that this backhoe is too big for my tractor and I would like to explore all possibilities before I give up the backhoe. In a preliminary attempt to check the fit of everything, I've removed the subframe from the backhoe unit and it appears to slide onto my tractor easily. I'll need to locate brackets that I'm guessing attach to the same location the loader does (can you guess I'm a newbie at tractor ownership?) in order to anchor the forward part of the subframe. Anyone with a picture of their set up and or where I can get these brackets please chime in. I've rationalized trying to fit this backhoe on my tractor like my 3 year old daughter tries to convince me shoes slightly big for her are the right size because a particular model isn't available in her size. What modest engineering intuition I have knows that there are risks inherent in overpowering and under building things. My digging needs are very modest and frankly the acquisition of the tractor stems more from the toy desire than actual utility factor. My intention is to dig holes and plant small trees as well as build a small crushed rock pad for a storage shed, possibly a pond, and at the limit I will do some grading of my property which has a fairly gentle slope as it is. My point is that I don't plan to stress the tractor out too much but is there something obviously wrong with my thinking that one of you can shed light on? Your comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I should also say that if someone out there has the smaller 757 or 756 backhoe and can use a 758 model let me
know!

When I purchased my TC30 the dealer said I could go with either the 757 or 758. I was going to go with the 758, but , they had the 757 in stock, take it right away, can't wait, took the 757.

I don't think you will have a problem with the 758.

Thanks for your reply. Is the TC30 the same tractor as the 1520?

Hello waterbury,
I suggest you find out the hydraulic gpm requirement for the 758B and see if your 1520 rated at 6.4 gpm valve flow/6.8 gpm total flow is enough to power it.
The TC30 has 30hp and I believe your 1520 is 23hp/18.5hp pto. The 758B might be too much for your tractor.

On paper the 1520 has a higher flow than the TC30.

The 1510 Replaced the TC 30. The 1520 is 35 HP version of the 1510. I cannot see any difference between them other than Decals.

I have aTC 30 with FEL. If I could afford it I would get a Mini Excavator over a Backhoe attachment. JMO

You are talking New Holland 1520 and I believe Waterbury said Ford 1520.

If it's a 1996 model it may be both.

I have TC-34da. With a Woods 8' backhoe. Works great, plenty of power. However, I would if they offer or see if you can get... I would get a subframe and not a 3 pt attach style.

Also have to agree with the other person with the mini excavator. If I had the money I would get a mini instead of the backhoe attached me. More power. The problem with the backhoe attachment is the tractors not heavy enough to help with hard digging. A good mini you can do so much more with. Also is the working area, I find I have to get on and off to move the tractor to move all the time. With a mini, just can move and dig.
