My 1510d is in fulltime 4wd-I checked underneath where the lever goes and I see a nub moving back and forth-seems that there's no lingkage-Do you have to remove the forward drive shaft and the hub that has four bolts on it to find the linkage? It seems that its on top of the housing that comes out of the tranny. Is this a common problem with these units? thanks

On the 1510D, the 4WD lever shaft has a finger on the other side that slides another shaft that ultimately moves a 3 toothed coupling on a spline gear to engage the FWD shaft. The shaft pokes out the side of the housing and is subject to corrosion and dirt. That shaft may need some cleaning and lubrication, the finger on the 4WD lever shaft may have broke off, or both. If you remove the FWD shaft and then the housing cover that the FWD shaft passes through, you should be able to determine the problem. I think you need to drain the hy-tran before removing the housing cover, but I am not sure.
