15" Wheels for my 825i Gator

Hello,

Does anyone have 15" wheels on their Gator, especially the 825i model. I'm looking to buy more of a radial street tire for my Gator, and I've read that a 15" wheel would fit. If you have a 15" wheel on your Gator, what radial street tire do you have on your 15" wheels? Appreciate any information . . . looking for specific information on a correct wheel/tire setup.

Don't own a Gator, but a 235/75-15 tire is nominally 28.9" OD. If you find that people are running 28 or 30 inch tires on their Gators then street tires of that size would fit. I came very close to putting them on my Defender and kind of wish now that I had. It would have handled a lot better on the road with them. (not as much sidewall flex)

Hi Tennsawdust,

I'm looking at a 225/75/15 or better yet a 205/75/15 radial tire for the 15" wheels (6" width) . . . which would give me a 27" diameter. I was hoping that someone had gone this route with their Gator, and was wanting to pick their brain for choices that I could make.

Personally, I would be looking for a bias ply tire rather than a radial. Bias ply is better suited to being "aired down" to low pressures often used on ATVs/UTVs. If you are going to be running something closer to normal street tire pressures, then this probably won't matter much.

For a good combination of on and off-road performance, you might try the Super Swamper TSL-Bias in a 29x8.5/15 size. They are legal for on-road use on light trucks, but have excellent grip for off-road use. They are designed for a 6" wide rim. THe Bias ply tire takes well to being aired down for off-road use.

I have a very similar tire on my antique Coot (amphibious UTV): The Super Swamper TSL/SX bias ply in a 29x10.5/15. They are very similar to the ones mentioned above, but wider. (I'd have liked to go narrower, but my rims are 8 or 8.5" wide, and these were the ones that fit those rims.)

I have DOT summer radials tires for my RZR mounted on 12" rims. I run them at 10psi otherwise the ride transmits too much vibration. I don't really have a good photo to share but just to sayt that DOT tires exist for your Gater without going to larger wheels.
