I posted this thread on the JD owning/operation and received no answer so I thought I would post it here. I removed the piston and seals from JD 146 loader bucket cylinder and obtained new seal kit (AW16444). There are two seals; primary piston seal packing (series of cupped stacked seals) and the primary ram seal that I have a question. Its my understanding that the primary piston seals should be placed so that the cups are facing the piston retaining nut. It would appear that these were previously put on backwards (picture below). The primary piston seal should be placed so that the cup is facing inward toward the ram guide. I found it placed so that the cup was facing outward (picture below). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
