I'm getting ready to do a oil change and I was wondering where other 1430 owners get their air filters. I buy the oil/fuel filters locally from the deutz dealer. Last time I bought a couple air filters from PT. I don't want to buy the filters from PT, especially with the $50 minimum.

Just curious.

I think it's a odd ball size. PT is the only place I've been able to find them. Maybe one could change the air cleaner to one that takes a common size filter.

I have the 1845 rather than the 1430 so this information may not be relevant.

I bought my air filter from the Duetz dealer--the air filter on the engine was Duetz OEM. The filter on my 1845 has an indicator for the need for filter cleaning/changing. If the 1430 has the indicator I would see no reason to service it until the indicator turns red.

The 1430 has a round, paper filter. (see attachment) I think it might be possible to change the filter to one more like the 1845 or like what the kubota diesels have. I swung by the Deutz dealer today and asked about the air filter. He confirmed that it wasn't a deutz and suggested that I try a NAPA store or the like. I think changing the filter to a more common type is a good idea and would make the tune-ups easier.

That looks like a Solberg filter housing. I think that's what the ones I saw in Tazewell used. It should be pretty easy to find a replacement, if only from Grainger or direct from Solberg.
