1233 Trans. Problem

I'm having a problem with my 1233 transmission. It's not going into the slow,medium and high range like it should. It seems that all I have is high range. It's hard to shift and when it's put in the other ranges it locks up and stalls the motor. This is the standard trans. with 3 forward and 1 reverse. I have a parts manual but I'm ordering a shop manual before I tear into it. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem or could give me any ideas.

No problems with my 1233 transmission. Let me know if you find a good quality service manual. The one I got from MF is lacking.
