I have a Curtis cab with heat on my JD855 but found the heater doesn't help keep the front window clear. Would any one have any recommendations for a defroster that they have seen or used?

I don't have an answer, but since I also have a new to me JD with a Curtis cab and heater, I will be watching this thread. I was thinking a small fan in the cab directed at the windshield might help, but I hope others chime in from experience.

I use a 12V ceramic heater in my cab. I have a glass windshield and fiberglass top roof but the rest of the cab is the soft vinyl w/ plastic windows. Haven't had a problem keeping the windshield clear. I usually wait till the storm is over and not snowing and blowing. The heater I have is made by RoadPro model RPSL681 and is only 300 watt, and draws about 22 amps. (KW's post shows it on Amazon for around $31. It is directly wired to the battery with a toggle switch due to the heavy wire I used. Just have to remember to turn it off when parking the tractor. I have it mounted at roof level behind my head on the right side blowing toward the windshield. I don't even have to wear gloves in the cab once its going. I think using one of these to supplement your heater would keep it clear.

I have a curtis cab on a NH TC40DA with the heater. It has a 2 speed fan up high and to the right. It works fine to keep the condensation & frost off the windshield if I have the heater running on all but the below zero days. Then I have to scrape a bit inside. For my Electric Polaris Ranger, I have tried those cigarette lighter plug in heaters without much success and they draw a lot of amps. That ceramic direct wire heater looks good.

Moving air will help defrost a window, naturally heat helps a lot.
I use a computer type 12 volt muffin fan and simply blow air at my rear window.
I mounted it on a magnet so that I can position for best effect. Works fine for me and I can now breathe while looking out my back window.

I had the same problem in my bobcat 2100. It also has a Curtis cab. The heater I used was from Harbor Freight. It was not the best but it worked and it was cheap.

I'd think that a muffin type computer fan would be a good choice - lots of air flow and low current draw.
