If anyone remembers my fiasco last year with the neighbors who called the sherrif on us while running a combine at 2 am this is from the same folks. It appears their youngest son (15-16 years old) put a slug through another neighbors window last weekend. he shot at a deer across a field and the slug skipped and sailed across a road and right through a plate glass window and buried itself in the wall a few inches above the couch, where the homeowner sits everyday when he gets home and watches the news. That particular day he had to run a few errands before he got home.
Anyway I know the kid was tracked down by the DNR and has been forced to pay all the repair costs already, don't know what kind if any tickets he received.

These are the type of people who truly belong back in town, if not for the safety of others for themselves at least.

Holy cow! What ever happened to firearms safety training? We've had three fatalities here in Vermont this year, with one shot and killed up in St Albans while driving his tractor!

I'm all for the right to bear arms, but there are some heady responsibilities that come along with that right!

Gun Control = Being able to hit your target

These things aren't always deliberate.

I had a friend accidentally put a .250 Savage 75 gr hollowpoint through a farmer's living room window. He had taken a shot at a crow sitting in a plowed field and the bullet ricocheted(?) and veered about 30 degrees left and then traveled nearly 3/4 mile before hitting the window. It was recovered on the floor, having bounced off the wall. It was nearly undamaged--looked as if it could have been reused. That made it pretty easy to figure out where it came from. The people in the house were not amused.

Deliberate? No. Careless? Yep, but from where the shot was taken, that house cannot be seen.

Shooting at a bird with a rifle might be considered less than responsible. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Although you are right about shooting at birds with a rifle, it would/could have happened while shooting at a deer or anything else,

I wonder if any of the anti gun groups monitor this site? It would be a shame to give them free ammo....

I agree that a stray bullet can do strange things, but usually shooting at a deer you're aiming down or at least parallel to the ground, shooting up at a bird opens up a whole new realm of possibilities. I'd think no more range than a slug has, this guy must have seen the house on the other side of his target too.

I agree. They only do enough "fact finding" to make themselves look good /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I don't hunt with a sluggun but ain't they only good for a clean kill up too @100yds.
I agree he would have to have known what his backdrop was when he pulled the trigger or he was more concerned with the target itself.
Gun hunters education course is basically a joke, it is still up to the parent or whoever the youngster learns from for decent training and he or she is still going to have to learn on their own.
