What in the world is the deal on that front driveshaft fitting. Small access hole to go thru, next to impossible to line it up for grease. What were they thinking. Any ideas on making this go a bit easier please comment . THANKS TO ALL

As I recall, you can grab the edge of the flywheel & rotate it to get the grease fitting lined up with the hole. You do need a grease gun tip that fits through, though.

Thanks PsRumors, I was going to see if there was access thru the flooring area since that seemed like a logical way to go. Always a good idea to look around and see if someone had the same problems and found a better way. As a trucker I know all about the seat bottoming out and this tractor sure does hit the bottom, since you had the same problem with the seat maybe you could send the custom seat springs solution my way as well. Hey thanks for the help and you have a good day and a better tomorrow.

I too want to thank PsRumors. I was doing my spring service yesterday and thought, "golly, I should try to remove the kick panel". What a huge difference. It takes two minutes to remove the panel, 30 seconds to grease the driveshaft, two minutes back on and done. Much better than lying on my back under the tractor with dirt dropping in my eyes while I curse the John Deere engineers.

Thanks again for the help.

I have to say that PsRumors is a great help, it's hard to get down on the ground but even harder to get back up so whenever someone comes up with a plan to save my bent broken body I'm all for it. I was doing my service as well. As much as I like to do normal maintainence the older I get the more I remember how much easier these things were a long long time ago.

The custom springs, I had those manufactured. I still have a few available.

PsRumors, the only thing that could have made the grease job on that last fitting easier would be that the two screws on the sides of the kick plate were just tabs that slip under the side covers. That was the longest part of the job taking the side covers off then the two screws on the sides. Now that the fitting is all lubed up I feel a lot better, mission accomplished thanks to you.

Nikdfish said to rotate the driveshaft and I tried that an had the hole and the fitting lined up but it is either not a straight on shot onto the fitting or the gun fitting is to big or long to work right.

Alls well that ends well, thanks to all.
