1020 power steering.

I'm new so if i'm in the wrong place with this question let me know. I have a 1965 1020 that I want to put power steering on. Has any of you guys used the aftermarket steering kits? If so, how did they work out ?

It will be interesting to see if anyone else has experience with the add on power steering kits. I have an 820 that could use this too.

Thanks for your reply jenkinsph. I was beginning to wonder if anyone heard me out there. We may have to give the ps kit a try because when I put weights on the tractor to move hay rolls, it's a pain to turn it when there's nothing on the lift.

The only aftermarket power steering kits I'm aware of are Jackson from Jetmore, Kansas. They don't list 1020's

I have seen kits listed for the 1020 but not for the 820 I will see if I can find these and post.

The only real difference in a 820(Mannheim built) vs 1020(Dubuque built) is the fact that 820 is open-center hyd's and 1020 is closed-center hyd's

My old man took an old truck front axle assy and mounted it in place of the MM front axle. Built a bracket and mounted the power steering pump, worked pretty good if you have some fabrication abilities.

Thought about all of this yesterday and may sell my 820, it is a good tractor but I don't need it enough to keep it.

The kit I found was on Ebay. Just type in 1020 john deere power steering and search it. I aint good with links. Thanks guys.
