1000 series with slipping transmissions

Curious to what brand hydro unit the posters that are having transmission problems have installed in their machines. I understand CC installs two different brand hydro units in its units. Peerless is one brand and the other is a hydrogear unit.

All hydrogear...the "slipping" problem is a known issue and Cub has a service advisory out for it.

I contacted my dealer about bulletin and they called CC. I was there when he called, they said they only have a bulletin for noisy idler pulley. Do you have the bulletin # for idler spring; slipping problem?

I haven't actually seen it and I am not a dealer. I believe however that the bulliten is #CC-497.

So is there a stamp, or label on the hydro that says who it is made by? My Parents just got a 06' LT1042 ( DOM 12/06 ). I would like to know if it is a Peerless or Hydrogear.

If you look from the rear, under the tractor you should see a tag which should tell what it is. That's where mine is on my 06-1045.

I could be wrong, but I think most of the hydro problems were with the 2005 models. As far as I know, the 2006 models are not having the same issues. From what I remember, MTD changed something in the hydro to make it cheaper to build and it bit them in the backside, so they changed it back.
