10 dead in New Orleans

Pushing this topic just a bit...because I'm not clear on what people are truly meaning...

Guy "A" blows up a vehicle in the middle of the desert and only he dies - it's suicide, because he did it with low probability of others being present.

Guy "B" blows up a vehicle in the middle of Las Vegas and he dies, although thankfully, nobody else gets hurt. It's not suicide, it's a terrorist act that failed - because he chose a location with high probability of others being present.

I'm sensitive to conditions which potentially result in suicide, but the guy who did it in the middle of Las Vegas does not get a pass just because he was suicidal. He was making a statement, Trump Towers, Cyber Truck...draw your own conclusions.

You can't prosecute a dead person, but criminals must ultimately be held accountable for their actions...or everyone claims a mental issue to obtain a "Get Out of Jail Free" card.

That's one of the reasons crime is rampant right now - no meaningful consequences for the perpetrator.

I have no clue per what guy B is actually thinking, but I am pretty certain given his military experience, if he wanted to make a statement by killing large amounts of people, he could have done so very easy.

From what I've read (which of course could have been wrong information) the guy went out of his way to ensure he didn't kill people in his act, but still wanted to make a statement. And from what I've read (again, which could be right or wrong) don't assume anything with the hotel location/name and truck being used.

For someone that intelligent getting to this point to kill himself in a public display, it's hard to assume anything that going on in his mind.

But, to keep the stats and paperwork to a minimum, terrorist act, perpetrator dead, no one else killed, put it the books and move on...
