Bird, its like this, trust me, I wont be holding this very long. I hope its a good one, their regular price is $199 heck I like this already. And as far as air, I will have a 3/8 line going to a 11 gallon storage tank and a 1/2 coming out to feed the impact it should work great. And its not something I will be using all the time, mostly for big nuts LOL
Jim

That 11 gallon tank will be gone in seconds.

Thats fine with me, the 60 gallon that feeds it will take care of that fast. I am feeding a 11 gallon tank with a 60 gallon tank with a 3/8 hose to the 11 gallon and a 1/2 line to the gun. Did I explain that right?

60 gallon feeding 11 gallon then a 1/2 hose to gun.
I have many air compressors .
Its confusing to me too. but it will work fantastic

Ahh, you got it covered then. Let us know how such a beast works out. I suppose the wrench has less BPM but obviously with far greater force.

Not really, it will have the same, here is the spec's

Working pressure: 90-115 PSI (stated); Average air consumption: 12-14 CFM; 1/2'' NPT; Overall dimensions: 22-3/4'' L x 7-3/4'' W x 7-1/4''H; Tool weight: 31.7 lbs.

I sure like mine, it doesn't use all that much air since all it takes is a short blimp on the trigger to do the work that my 1/2" impact would hammer all day on.

This is the exact same impact that I bought with the 15% coupon. I doubt that I will ever have to work on this wrench and they are that complicated if I do.

The weight isn't that much of a big deal, it has two handles and on the mower it sits on top of the nuts so I don't have to support it anyway. Besides getting a 6' pipe on the end of a 2' 3/4" breaker bar is a real pain and worse than the impact. But what really sold me is when the short extention broke and I went flying with 5 lbs of pipe trying to kill me. And that was a good high dollar extention too.

Go for it MrJimi.

What I meant is compared to much smaller impacts like my 1/2" IR.

Ford, how did you do your air supply? did you go 1/2 from the air compressor or are you using a 3/8 line? Before I go thru all of the trouble of making this thing I wrote about I will try it with 3/8 line and keep my fingers crossed LOL

I can tell you that it will work with the 3/8" line, but you will not get the full power from it. Whether you'll get enough power depends on the job to be done. You may get as much power as you need.

I agree, its kinda like my 25 PTO HP running a min. 40 PTO RC, underpowered again GRR
The 1/2 hose will work great but I may use this two times per year. I do have a large truck that has 1" lug nuts and my Case 1845 has some large ones also but if I need to remove the blades from a RC, I will be able to do it.
Like I wrote in my 286 posting, I will have the PTO speed and less HP, I'll just go slower, I don't mind
Just something else to play with

I did a couple of test runs with a 3/8" hose but the impact really lacked for air. I bought a 50' 1/2" hose and plumbed it directly into the regulator on my 60 gal tank but I still have at least one fitting restriction that keeps the wrench from developing full power. I'm going to replumb it when I get time and can find the parts that I want. Even with the restrictions this baby really hammers, after reinstalling the blades on my 305 I could barely get any more torque on the nuts with the 6' pipe. I would guess that I can reach about 1200 ft/lbs of torque with that pipe.

When you get the wrench buy the hose at the same time. I cut the clamp off one end and removed the fitting. Then I put the fitting that came with the wrench in the hose and clamped it tight. On the other end I installed a 1/2" quick coupler into a port on the regulator and the male end on the hose. This is where I think that the restriction is located.

Good Luck
