I bought an old Miller Trac-TiLL Rototiller. It is an absolute beast, but once I got to it with spring in mind and decided to service every thing including replacing the old slip clutch and putting a new PTO shaft on it, since it only came with HALF the shaft…that’s where everything went downhill.

Sheer BOLT holding it on? Nope. Splined shaft with a pin disconnect? Nope. What the Heck? So, I took the slip clutch apart to see if it would reveal its mystery. Yeah, that only deepened it. The slip clutch was held on at the end of the shaft by a SNAP RING?!?…took that off and the clutch eventually was persuaded to pull off to reveal…a 1-3/8” KEYED shaft with a snap ring groove at the end. Huh.

Okay, no problem, I’ll get a keyed shaft to 6 spline adapter and adapt it over.
Doesn’t exist According to the Googles. Emailed an adapter manufacturer. That was 3 weeks ago.
Smooth shaft female to 6 splined keyed male and I’ll drill the shaft for a sheer bolt? Cant find it. New clutch plates for the old PTO shaft and put a new PTO shaft on? The old PTO shaft had some bizarre SQUARE END on it And I think that old clutch has been sitting out on the weather for decades so the surfaces are…questionable.

Yeah. Other than having to make something using a 21 to 6 spline adapter, or getting an entirely new gearbox with the odds being I’m gonna fine even more weirdness and non standard fvckery inside this thing, I’m looking for ideas.

If push came to shove, I'd buy a smooth bore and a splined slip clutch and make one with halves of each. Then drill the tiller shaft for a bolt to align with the smooth bore side. Use a grade-8 bolt there and a ring clip on the end. Buy from the same manufacturer so the bolt holes are the same. Then you'd also have spare parts (clutch plates, springs and bolts).

Have a look through the G&G Mfg catalog (click on the PDF link). They have a lot of odd stuff, but I can't figure out exactly what it is you have from the info and limited photos you posted.
