Your acronym for Chevrolet is the best I've heard yet!! :)

Too bad Ford is having so much trouble. I guess, "Quality is Job 1" is just a slogan after all.

Certainly, they are proving they have another "Bright Idea" about every other year when it comes to diesels...

Recalling the recall: Ford has more wiring harness issues

FoMoCo sent out a directive to Ford and Lincoln/Mercury dealers today informing them that around 225,000 vehicles are being re-recalled after it was discovered that the wiring harness used during the original recall wasn't quite up to snuff. The second round of recalls involves a faulty fuse that doesn't offer enough protection if a short circuit occurs. Ford will be notifying the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the issue, but until NHTSA has all the information and dealers have the appropriate parts, Ford won't be notifying owners until the middle of next month.

The full list of vehicles* includes...
1992-2003 Econoline
1992-98 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis
1993 Bronco
1995-97 F-series stripped chassis
1993-95 Taurus SHO
1992-95 Town Car
1993 F series
*Only gasoline-powered models are affected.

I have never had a problem with recalls. To me it lets me know they are trying to make it right. As long as the dealer takes good care of me while my vehicle is being serviced thats all that matters. I have had Honda's, Toyotas, Fords, Mopars, and GM's. They have all had a recall sooner or later. What makes the difference is the dealer. I drive past 3 Ford dealers to get my service due to attitude and ignorance. They were unable to win my business in the first place so why go back. My last a final Dodge was a nightmare, 2 trannys, AC compressor, Power Steering, Radiator Cooling Fan, and a few other items all before 50,000 miles. The dealer was great and I would actually recommend them. My last GM blew the motor at under 30,000 miles and the transfer case at 45,000 miles. It took a year and a lawyer to get that one settled. I would love to burn down that dealership. So in the end it comes down to service befor and after the sale. Recalls are a good thing.

To me, recalls mean that the parts being recalled were improperly engineered or not tested properly in the first place. A sign of rushing products to the market. Is that what we want to trust our lives, property & cargo to?

I left Ford after spending over $10,000 on transmissions that couldn't stand up to a Yanmar diesel and a 6L diesel that cost Ford more money in warranty issues than any problem by any car company in history!

Ford & Peugot in 1.5 yrs. Bonjure! :D

Only Ford could manage this feat.

I guess I'm happy that they at least identify such problems, unlike some foreign makes - but c'mon guys, get it right the 2nd time at least.

It really does seem like an awful lot of the TV commercials were designed by idiots or maybe they just assume that their potential customers are all idiots.:D

Bird, shouldn't talk about GM, Chevy and Dodge owners like that. Ford figures most truck owners will tend to repeat and buy another Ford (most not all folks....calm down and drink your coffee!!), so they target the non Ford owners. BTW, I find GM, Chevy and Dodge commercials put together very well and marketed towards smarter folks myself. :D :D :D

And reguarding the PowerJokes, International makes them last I heard. If Ford jumps to another company, can you blame them. I guess the Isuzu diesels are better than the GM made diesels...including the Olds diesel. :D I guess Dodge and Ford were never foolish enough to try and make a diesel.

:) :p

The linked to article appears to be from October 2005. I only scanned it quickly but didn't see the reference to after 2009. Looks like Ford sold jag and landrover to Tate today. Could this be India's revenge on the British?

There's a couple articles floating around about Ford's upcoming partnership with Peugot to build diesel engines. A "commercial" diesel is mentioned in the articles.

The 6.4L is not 2010 emmissions compliant. With Ford & IH's demise, one need only connect the dots to see that Ford is dropping the 6.4L after a whopping 2 year run, abandoning yet another red haired stepchild diesel, and moving to another new one in 2010.

Only thing that could save the 6.4L is if Ford & IH kiss & make up and do something to the 6.4 to make it pass 2010 regs.

All this makes me feel like Ford is a ship with no rudder, leaving customers with abandoned engines and no consistency.

Is this the only D-O-D-G-E one out there? someone must have come up with a better one than that.
On my second in (12 years that is) Dodge Ram with Cummins and have been very happy, I do think the Pooper Duty LOOKS better than the Dodge though and almost bought one for it's strong looks.
I'm on a few diesel truck site forums, and one thing I noticed is that Ford owners beat up on them selves over the short Cummings of Ford, they have the highest customer loyalty even with all the problems, but you should see the flame throwing going on there, You almost never see in fighting going on in the Dodge and GM forums.

Again, among some, an opportunity NOT missed to "chide" an excellent vehicle. The Ford diesel 6.4L is an excellent engine, by no means component for component a red-headed stepchild. The Ford diesel truck is an excellent truck. Again for those in question, please just look at one. Can one say after looking at the components on this truck (the Superduty) that it is not a really solid vehicle??? From where do we get the information about the Ford diesel not being able to meet 2010 emissions??? Is this based on current configuration or with future exhaust modifications??? Ford currently has the most sophisticated regeneration system found in a diesel pickup today. We are talking about seatbacks and wiring harnesses here. While these are important features I am not hearing about engine or transmission failures, etc. I applaud Ford, as I would any company for trying to fix things before customers become unhappy. The only complaint I have consistently heard about the 6.4L diesel on these moan and groan forums is regarding fuel economy. Interestingly, many of those that complain have early production models which may or may not have been reprogrammed to the new calibration, which really helps, or have the lower towing gears. We should not forget these trucks outweigh their counterparts by on average 1100 pounds for an equivalent vehicle which accounts for some mileage reduction. As for the Ford forums, did we not have a similar innuendo provided about the John Deere forums on our very site??? Is John Deere a bad machine because the forums may address concerns which arise from use?? I realize a seatback is important, but can we seriously use this as a stepping stone to bring up (again) some etherial Ford shortcoming we do not know to be true??

Link to Ford forum just to show how complex these new trucks are, cab off to access engine. this thread is pretty civil, was a little attitude at the beginning when they didn't believe the guy.

Just lost my 2nd motor (6.4 diesel) - Page 9 - The Diesel Garage Forums

These are Cummins, to show I'm not just picking on Ford, the first 2 are 07's, found these out on the loading dock at a local cummins power dealer, they asked me to leave when they saw me taking pictures.
