the only thing that kept me away from the Tundra was the towing capacity.
i like the new 07 chevy: but will have to stick with my 04 for many more years.

If you want a 3/4 ton Tundra, just wait a few months, they're coming........

I have an 05 Tundra, and had an 03. Both are/were great trucks with no problems. They both ride smoother than my 99 Ford did, and the engine is so much more powerful, torquey and smooth. Fuel economy was abut the same as my Ford with similar sized motor but way more power. That said I thought the Ford seemed to handle just a tiny bit better with a load in the back, it felt more stable. When towing tho, the Tundra was better because of the better engine.

These new Tundra's are supposed to be bigger, stronger and more like the domestics. I'd have to try one under load to know for sure, but Toyota rarely makes a mis-step..........

Also, they're built right here in the USA, in a brand new plant in San Antonio.........

Do any one of You out there like the new Tundra half ton ?
Personally, I like the looks ,and while it's not an HD three quarter ton , It might just be My next truck .

If/when they build a Tundra equal to my Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with an inline 6 diesel engine I will take a close look at it. I would love to have a Toyota quality truck with a Cummins quality inline 6 diesel.

I love my Cummins and the Dodge styling, frame and drivetrain are good but all the little Dodge items are starting to get tired and will only get worse over time.

Next year, 08 we should see a diesel. Who's engine it will be I do not know. But if is made by toyota it will be a good engine. They had one in this country back in 83.

The only thing bad about the Toyotas is the money goes back to Japan. That new Tundra looks somewhat like a heavy duty Ford to me. Nice looking truck..

im not so sure bout the money goin back to japan. dont get me wrong im sure some does, but alot of it stays here seeing as how most the parts are made here and its assembled in san antoinio. dont these trucks have the 6 speed auto in them?

but you cant get one with straight drive.

You mean with a stick shift? Probably true with the V-8, but then you can't get those on the domestics either, can you? The only sticks I've seen are on the low end V-6 models.............
