04 f250 ford 6.0 PSD throttle surge issue

At work we have two of these truck.

Just got a call from the jobsite that one of them is doing an odd throttle/rpm surge.

it can be setting there idling, and all of a sudden 'takes off', then will act like normal.

No pattern, intermittant.

Any ideas?

I know it uses a HPOP and no 'normal' IP, etc.

Since it has a turbo.. do these have a boost sensor and pedel sensor to figure fuel dump?

I'm heading out in a bit with a superchips code reader that is setup for 04 6.0PSD to see what I can find. Any tips or guesses will be appreciated.

Mine was doing that and had to replace the ICP sensor.

Is it a high rpm or a high idle.

It goes to 2-3k real fast, but returns quick.

Ok, code reader confirms p2287. Icp

Now where is it?

Also code p0275 came up. Cyl5 contribution balance. Sounds lil a issue, but the icp sounds like 'the' issue

Well if it's built prior to 9-29-04 , it will be on the rear of the engine under the turbo, if built after that date it will be on the top of the right side valve cover in the front.

Wait till you price the sensor from ford.

Also if it is leaking oil into the harness make sure you clean the harness good or buy the replacement pigtail.
