“Terror” Chinese excavator

Found out Wednesday that my order was going to be another 8 weeks out due to tariff disruption. Chris from Typhon offered me a refund witch I accepted, haven't seen the refund yet but Chris has kept communication with me so hopefully this week.

I have an offer from kamran for $12,8 with free shipping that seems to be the same machine as the 2 ton Terror that I was getting.
Prior to offer I was told $200 to ship to Massachusetts witch seems reasonable.

The rippa seems like something I'll check into though. I have a budget of around $15
So will see. You think there's dealers in the MA area?
Once your nearing the $10k range I would be looking for a used name brand machine.

I own a 1990 kubota kh41. A 3,500lb machine I bought with 1200hrs about 6yrs ago. I have put 800hrs on it. I replaced a track roller bearing, pin and seal to the tune of $250 in parts. That's a 35yr old machine that still has parts available. I paid $8500 for this machine.

NYONE, sounds like you got a good one. I agree with your sentiment but at the end of last year the best price I could find for a 1.5-2t name brand MiniX in Texas with reasonable hours was around $20k. For some reason most of these were without hydraulic thumbs (which I didn't understand) and that was a dealbreaker. I subsequently bought my 1.6t Typhon Terror for just under $10k delivered to my door. Durability/reliability is yet to be seen, but I'm sure it will not as good as a Kubota and if I need parts it will not be as easy as calling a dealer or probably even ordering online.
I guess that those are the trade-offs I made to save 10 grand.

Ok well I got my refund from Chris at Typhon Machinery last week. It's to bad that the tariff disruption cancelled that deal but I have to say over all not a bad experience with Them.

So I found a Miva VA 20 which seems to me is almost the same as the Terrors. 2 Ton, piolet controls, hydraulic thumb was able to get a 24" tilt bucket which I had coming with Typhon order also the Kubota D902. I'm into it for $14,3 delivered to my door.

Found it from a dealer in MA Empire Construction. Worked it out last Wednesday and he delivered it this past Saturday.

Congrats on the new digger!
I don't know that brand but a cursory look at the pictures, it looks like a good unit. My only comment is it would be good to figure out the articulation needs of the tilt bucket and find a way to tie back those hoses so they are not as likely to get caught on something.

Nice machine - it looks pretty much like the Hightop HT20 model. I used bungee cords to tie to the boom - also point the 90's up on the bucket. I found the bucket moved too fast with the foot pedal so I throttled the valve back to about half, made it slower and more controllable.

Interesting you didn't get boom swing on this machine - not that you need it but most of these machines have them.

I'm new to the site and I recently purchased a Typhon Terror XVII with cab and the D902 kabota engine the blue series. Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this model
How do you like it so far?
I'm looking at the Terror X1 for my home use...I really don't need anything bigger than a 1 ton.
That one has a Briggs & Stratton engine and I haven't heard any bad things about them yet.
Has your experience been positive?

Anybody recognize this bolt with large washer. While swinging with the Miva VA 20 I heard a metal crunching noise and then went away can't seem to figure out what it was. Then when loading on trailer at the end of the day I found this bolt on the trailer bed.

ML88 - hard to tell from those pics - what does the other side look like? Seems to be the head of a bolt that sheared off. I would start but looking at the swivel mounting bolts - they could have loosened and sheared off one of them.

The swivel motor is bolted from the top with large allen head screws, so they would not fall out. Were you swinging with the boom or the swivel motor I presume the swivel motor, and if a bolt came out of that bottom plate it could get sheared off I suppose.

Also your signature lists a Typhon Terror XVII but you were running a MIVA 20? They appear to be similar

Hi Carl NH I originally was getting the Typhon Terror XVII but with the teriffs interruptions I had to take a refund and ended up finding this Miva local. Thanks for the thoughts im going to try and locate the swivel mounting bolts and see.

I'll have to change my signature to Miva VA 20

Thanks again
