I'm new to this community so hopefully this post is OK. Let me know if it's not and I'll delete it.
We're closing on a rural property on July 1 and the first order of business will be getting a 40x60 pole barn built. I'm trying to get my ducks in a row to get quotes. The entire ground floor...
I bought this 1100 gallon tank 2 years and finally got around to installing it. The water will be used mainly for watering the garden and cleaning up my equipment. Its a simple system with a Special Pump from Rain Brothers in Ohio. The pumps does not require a pressure tank and pressure...
Central Oregon High Desert.
I grow a horse blend (Orchard/Timothy/Brome) for local horse owners.
Was the first one in my area to cut and bale. My irrigation comes from local snow melt and we've had record snow fall this year. Hoping for 3 cuts, but fearing that the local climate crazies or...
I know somebody that has had a barn fire. Lots of hay around his balers, but no hay in the balers. Two small square balers were lost. I don't know if the equipment ultimately will be insured, a bit of a problem with structure insurance vs equipment insurance.
Sorry, no photos at the moment...
Good morning everyone.
Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get bats to move out of a barn.
To start, I don't want to kill them. I like having them to keep the bugs down and I know the little guys are endangered. Also, I'm very glad that they moved out of my attic and are not in...
I insulated my 42'x60' (x12-14') pole barn recently and need to buy a new propane barn heater. The kind you suspend from the ceiling and hangs about 9 ft high. I need to hire the work out rather than do it myself. What brands furnace barn heaters have others used and had good luck with? I don't...
Decided to make a Lighting Contactor panel so I didn’t have to run all over the barn turning on light switches. Pretty simple design. Bought one 4 pole N.O. contactor on Amazon with a 120v coil, and one 2 pole N.O. / N.C. Plug in relay with a 24vac coil. Since I already had a new small...
Actually it will be an equipment building to get all my treasures (junk, as my wife calls it) inside. Everything is still subject to change since I'm just getting started, but the current plan is for a steel building, probably from Worldwide Steel Buildings, 30' x 60', organized as five 12'...
Took delivery of 2 more barn cats. These are basically free feral cats collected by the Humane Society. They neuter, vaccinate, and chip the cats and place them on farms or ranches. For that they request a donation of your choice.
I've been keeping barn cats on the ranch for 5 yrs. There is a...
I am designing a pole barn and need opinions from people who already have one.
Already decided specs:

Attic trusses with 16' wide room
12' wrap around porch on one corner extending 24' each on eave and gable end
(6) 2'x6' transom windows
3 service doors
Radiant heat slab

Update. Painted the elevator and added a cycle counter. Bought the 120v counter on amazon and added it to the control box. The limit switch is mounted in the UP limit position so it only counts a full lift one time. Fun little project that works good.
Been working on a Lift Elevator...
Hello folks.
Cleaning out an old barn today I found these pieces. Looks like two 2-cyl engine blocks and a transmission housing. Can anybody identify them? Do they have value?
Thanks...
After years of hand jacking square bales from the trailer into horse stalls for storage, I bought a hay grapple to unload the trailer. Made it easier to stack them in the aisle next to the stall door but still labor intensive to put them in the stalls. I am building a new 30'X40'X14' hay barn...
I'm doing some work on the underside of my bank barn style shop and needed to get the Fordson out of the way (so she wouldn't get hurt)
I don't think she has been lit up and running for more than a year.
Opened the fuel tap and observed fuel fill the sight bowl.
Climbed up to the seat to press...
I've wired up the inside of my shop building and now looking to add an exterior outlet on the side-shed/porch. The inside isn't finished -- just metal fastened to the girts with thin foil-faced insulation in between.
How do folks normally mount outlets in this situation? Surface-mount outdoor...
Hi all,
First time poster here (my first tractor arrives next week) and I am hoping the community can help me out with a question.
I purchased a small property in Ontario, Canada around 18 months ago to use - for now at least - as a weekend property. There are two very old barns on the site...
Today, for the who knows how many times, pulled everything out. Tractor, attachments, classic cars, whatever.
Put them all outside then thought ... "bet it would fit better this way." Then proceeded to rearrange the place. ( it actually does look better).
But laughed later thinking...
I do have a drive through tractor shed for my tractors, and a more closed barn for my welding trailer and CTL.
Have to admit that if everything is dusty, I'm prone to pull them all out to get washed off by an impending rain though.
I've not built anything to house my implements yet...
The current garage is 20x25 and is pretty much tightly packed with all my woodworking eqpt and a zero turn. There is literally no standing space on the woodworking side of things. So I am set on a pole barn . My initial thoughts were 24x32x10 and slowly I became convinced it should be 24x40x12...
Thinking 48ft wide by 36ft deep.
Any thoughts on the height? I was thinking 12ft minimum inside with 9 ft tall doors.
Also looking for a pole barn builder that will travel for work in central Va.

IF you have a similar building, how accurate were the online or original price quotes?
I need another goat barn. I visited another farm where I plan to buy some goats, and they had a large, tube frame steel building. I liked the way it looks and I think something a bit smaller would work very...
Greetings,
I'm looking to replace a metal shed building with dirt floor with a permanent garage. I'd like to keep the garage pretty small but then have a shed roof off to the side or other side storage for a covered and secured area to store implements. Considering racking and other ways to...
I am/was currency in the process and gathering quotes and getting my barn drawing done for the barn, we are planning to start this summer. Also got the ball rolling with the building permits and restriction and what not. My first curve ball came reel quick, the only part accessible by vehicle of...
The boards holding the ridge on my 1930's era barn need to be replaced. Recently, one of the boards failed entirely because of rot and the ridge started lifting because the nails no longer hold in this rotted wood.
As an emergency temporary fix, I threw a rope over that portion of the ridge...
