    Removing a hydraulic joystick knob

I need to replace a cracked boot on my FEL joystick but cannot for the life of me see how to remove the joystick knob without destroying it. It's not threaded on and I do not see a set screw. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Oil & Fuel  JD 2240 injector pump leak.

I'm pulling some basic maintenance and clean up on my dad's 2240. It cranks easily, runs great, and pulls like a champ. However, the injector pump has a leak around the throttle control stem on the top of the pump. My question is, how difficult is that to repair? I'm a fair mechanic but not...

Loader  NH Electric over Hydraulic 3rd function valve

New Holland has an OEM 3rd function kit they push for their TN series tractors. I'm trying to find a copy of the installation instructions so I can see how it is plumbed. Does anyone on the list know where I might find that on line? their kit is *way* expensive, but I believe it's basically a...

    UTV spray rig

I use a 25 gal spot sprayer in they back of my UTV a quite a bit. The only thing I have not figured out is a good way to manage the 15+ feet of hose between the pump and the wand. It tends to hang over the side of the bed and drag. Any ideas for hose management?

Oil & Fuel  TN65 oil light coming on

Had a strange problem crop up while doing some box blade work this last weekend. When I started up, the oil light came on and almost immediately went out, just like it should when the oil pressure builds up. About a half an hour into the work the oil light came back on and stayed on. No...

    Chipper  PGF Chippers

In searching for forums, I've found quite a few threads on the Jinma Chippers. I've been seriously considering buying a PTO chipper but was looking at the PGF chipper from Northern Tool. It's quite a bit more expensive than the Jinma, listing right at $5K but it also looks a lot heavier...

    Starband is a winner!

After years of dial-up, we finally bit the bullet and had the local satellite provider hook us up with a Starband internet connection. We were originally going with WildBlue, but they've apparently maxed out their one bird and have put new customers on hold (at least in our area) until sometime...

    Harbor Freight Flux Core welders

OK, My MIL gave me a cash gift for my birthday and it's about to burn a hole in my pocket. :D I'm considering buying one of those Chicago Electric (or what ever they are called) 115V flux core wire welders from Harbor Freight. I already have a Lincoln stick welder for big stuff and was...

Flail Mower  New (to me at least) Alamo flail

I finally got around to posting some pics of my "new" mower. I think I got a pretty good deal on it eventhough I've had to replace a couple of minor parts. I've added a new PTO guard and rock guard on the back, replaced the skid shoes, and replaced a couple of bolts. Left Side Right Side...

Flail Mower  Used Alamo flail mower

I have the opportunity to by a used, 72" Alamo flail mower. I haven't inspected it yet, but I'm told it is about 6 years old, has been kept under a shed, is well maintained (i.e. all the bearings are OK) and had the blades replaced last season with heavy duty knives. A local municipality used...

    Decisions, decisions...

This year my yard has finally reached the point of being too big for the old Cub Cadet, but too much of an obstacle course for the TN65 and a finish mower. Next summer I hope to be mowing with something else. I've narrowed my choices to either a TZ22AD or a TC23DA. I've driven the TZ at my...

    Sticky FEL control

The joystick control for my FEL valves has gotten a bit sticky. By "sticky" I mean that it doesn't pop back to center easily. I'm a little leary of applying too much lube to the control cable links or under the dust boot of the joystick for fear of it picking up dust and dirt. Have any of...

    Flux wire welder

Has anyone ever used one of those flux wire welders for light welding? I have a stick welder and have used MIG welders with great success, but I'm unfamiliar with the flux wire models. Can they produce a bead as clean as a MIG on light work? I was wondering if it would be worth getting one...

Trying to locate a water tank

I'm trying to find one of those large, square, metal caged water tanks. I believe they come in 250 and 330 gal sizes; either size would be fine. Last year someone had an ad in the local classifieds with a couple of those to sell. They weren't expensive, only $40 or $50 but I passed on it and...

    Roller pump question

I've been thinking of building a small 50gal sprayer for spraying the edges of my pecan orchard and hay fields. I am hoping to keep the price reasonable (i.e. low) by using a simple PTO roller pump rather than a larger diaphragm pump. The roller pumps I've looked at come in three flavors...

    Minor brake fluid leak

My TN65 has a minor brake fluid leak (more like a seep, really) around the fitting for the brake light pressure switch. The dealer has replaced the switch, but I still get a bit of fluid collecting there when the tractor is in use. The tractor is still under warranty and I certainly have no...

    Flatbed truck plans

This post is slightly off topic, but I thought the group would have some good input. Friday I dinged the tailgate of my "good" truck one too many times and came to the conclusion that I need a second truck, a 1 ton dually, to pull trailers and use around the farm. I found a pretty good...

Brake fliud leak on a TN65

About a week ago I noticed the brake fluid warning light flickered on when I have my tractor pointed up hill. I checked the fluid and sure enough it was down to the MIN point. I can't find any major leaks but it appears that there is a slow seep somewhere on the master cylinders; probably been...

    New FEL on the way!!

WOOHOO!! I finally pulled the trigger on a new FEL for the TN65, Friday. Hopefully I'll have it set up in two or three weeks, depending on the delivery schedule to the dealer. I've already got about a month's worth of work lined up for it

    Main hydraulic pump leakage

I'm coming up to the 50hr mark on my new TN65. I was bush hogging the other day and noticed something dripping, just a little, on the steering hydraulics. A quick check found that there was there was a small seep at the fitting on top of the main hydraulic pump. This doesn't seem to cause any...

    Rotary cutter modifications

Purchased a new King Kutter bushhog this summer to replace a well worn JD. It runs good and cuts fine. The only problem I have is that grass gets ejected out the back directly onto the rear wheel. In no time it winds around the axle bushing and causes the wheel to start dragging. To clear it...

    Lookin' for ideas...

Lookin\' for ideas... I've got a fair sized patch or river cane on my property. Every year I end up bush bush hogging it back to keep it from spreading. I've been tempted to soak in in 245T or Tordon and be done with it, but that seems like a waste. Any ideas on how I might turn this into...

    CADPlans attachments

Has anyone in the group built one of the CADPlans loaders, specifically the Mod. 1207. Since I don't have *quite* enough pain in my life, I'm considering building one of these for myself. I figure if it doesn't work out, I'll have plenty of scrap metal to add to the pile and I can always buy an...

Hydraulics for a heavy duty KK blade

I've all but settled on an 8' King Kutter heavy duty rear blade for driveway and ditching work. However, I've never seen a KK blade with factory hydraulic adjustments for tilt or swing. Has anyone here added their own hydraulics to a KK blade? If so, I'd like to hear how you did it or...

    3 point scissor lift

I was looking through the new Valu Bilt catalog this weekend (yep, a dangerious thing to do) and saw an attachment called a scissor lift for a 3PH on page 315. According to the short description, this is to increase the lift height of the hitch to double stack round bails, etc. For the...

    TN65 "accessory"?

TN65 \"accessory\"? Got my new TN65 last week and have been loving it! However, I found one "undocumented" accessory that makes me curious. Right behind the lift and draft controls is a small socket of some sort with a spring loaded cover. Too small to be a cigarette lighter, but that's just...

Flail Mower  Comments on Alamo flail mowers?

Anyone have any experience with one of the Bush Hog M series FELs?
