this may work or not ...same but different..when my 2538 binds up with hard or no shift ....stop on level ground- lift front tires with front attachment about 1ft.-then shift out.

What works for my 2538 is to stop on level ground,.. lift the front tires off the ground a foot or so with the bucket,... bring the engine down to idle, and then manipulate the shift lever.

I also went with studs front and rear....* work good year round on dirt, mud, snow and ice for me. * tires are R4's

Agree, that slight lift makes it work on my 1000 hr 2538!

If it happens again try putting the bucket down enough to lift the front tires off the ground a foot or so then manipulating the lever.....works for me. Also works on gear shift lever stickiness.....

Yup, my 2538 ain't easy to get in but I've found by WD40'n the hell out of it and pushing-leaning hard down on the hood with 1 hand [and arm,] while working the lever with the other will do it.

Off topic but that "awesome view" is similar to Hessian Hill in Parsonsfield. , looks like you're a bit to the NW from there? Very nice...

This is the type pump I thought you were dealing with..Was called the Main Hydro pump by the mechanics and the dealer., took my 2538 out of commission for 4 months

10 grand! The pump I purchased was total, with shipping, & install about 2 grand.....

When my HST pump went it leaked out the 'reddish' color hydro fluid and all functions ceased .....had to be winched onto a flatbed.

From what I 'understood', from my dealer, is that he used a buyer located in India to source the pump.....that was manufactured in Korea. 4 months later it arrived!

I feel your pain GR! About 10 posts below yours you can see my similar Frustrating 4 month search to replace my same failed pump on my 2538. I wish you luck in your search.

Your out of warranty assumption is correct, and the pump... as it's bolted to the exterior of the engine would not have been covered.

After 4 long months my pump finally arrived at dealer and I am back in the saddle again! Lots to do before we are buried in the white stuff. Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions. I'm going with "All's Well That Ends Well!"..

That was reference the "fabricate a mount for a "Non OEM" pump idea" ..if all else failed." I could not imagine that job.

Howdy Neighbor.. I'm in Newfield... Abbott's is where I purchased the Tractor and where it has been for a month now while we tried to find the pump!, ...Dave Abbott sourced the pump that's now on its way!!

Thank you again arrow! Much appreciated...I am gonna stick with my local Dealer, the price is about the same and he is familiar with the India company. If for some reason it doesn't happen.. I'll get back.. It sure will be nice to be back in the saddle again! Projects are backed up!

GOOD NEWS! My Mahindra dealer was able to source 1 out of a factory supplier in India!...Should be here in 2-3 weeks! WHEW!

Sorry, didn't take any pics....the teeth on the pump look like a hammer and chisel was used on them. It seems it just" S the bed." Amazingly the inner gear mates with it fine...no damage on it. Mechanic said that it is made that way to sacrifice the pump teeth instead of the inner engine...

Yes duffer thanks, one issue is it's sitting in the dealers shop, I'd have to sell that idea to him but with no availability of stock ones that may be the only way.

Can a competent Machine Shop retool these pumps? The Dealer didn't think that was the way to go but with no new pumps available......?

Hello all, new member in the State o' Maine.....my issue with my Mahindra 2538 is the main hydraulic pump [#12625103100] has failed. The Dealer does not stock one and after many searches by them and me it seems nowhere to be found. Any direction or help finding one would be greatly...
