    New grapple - W.R.Long Gladiator

I'm a new, first time, grapple owner. I used to cut, haul, and burn limbs and brush on my property too. These past three weeks, I used the grapple (and a new dump trailer) to haul everything (except logs that I will process into firewood) to the dump (free yard debris dumping during most of May...

    Health Care Prior to Medicare?

A Medicare supplement is not the same as a Medicare Part D drug plan. A supplement pays the 20% part B expenses that Medicare doesn't cover and (in most plans) the part A deductible ($1675 per benefit period in 2025). A Part D (drug) plan helps pay for the cost of prescriptions. Our Part D...

    Health Care Prior to Medicare?

Medigap or Supplemental insurance is an "optional" policy from a "private company" that pays the 20% Part B costs (and the part A deductible) that Medicare doesn't pay. It is in addition to Medicare (it has a separate, additional, premium). In my case, the Medigap insurer we choose sure as...

    Health Care Prior to Medicare?

A note of caution should you choose to self insure prior to going on Medicare. My Medigap (aka, Medicare Supplement) provider required proof that we had health insurance prior to starting their plan. I have no idea if this practice is common throughout the industry and across the country, or...

    Health Care Prior to Medicare?

I still don't think a tractor forum is the best place to research such a weighty topic, but you are correct that there are a lot of common sense folks here who have already been down this road. With that, I will toss out some ideas that will look random, but they all play together (and not...

    Health Care Prior to Medicare?

You might want to consult with an independent insurance broker. A good one should be able to lay out all the options for your situation.

    Kioti Grapple

Hi, I am thinking of getting a Kioti KG-2060 grapple for my Kubota L2501. It's available locally (big win for me given I am in the NW and everyone adds shipping to their prices for our area), "seems to be" well made, and has what I think is a reasonable price ($2000) from a shop that I like and...

Top and Tilt with Pat's Hitch

This is probably a dumb question.....but I don't know the answer so hopefully someone can help me out. I am seriously considering adding Top and Tilt to my Kubota L2501. I used to have a Quick Hitch (triangular frame), but I gave it away because it was so difficult to hook implements up (too...

Can you guys help me select the right snow removal implement for my specific application ?

Hey neighbor. Dang, I almost recognize that entry way. I'm on Pinehurst, near Tumalo Res. Rd. I am jealous of your set-up as I am just using a rear blade with an open station tractor (wireless headset lets me listen to tunes or podcasts though). I tried a horse stall mat a few years back...

Which is most similar to a garden rake

CarlNH - Isn't that the same thing as a Pine Straw rake? I still might get one (either what you posted or a Pine Straw rake), but for now, I think I am going to go out and build some muscles by hand raking it. Ruffdog - I think I like it and I just ordered one.

Which is most similar to a garden rake

Thank you for all the comments and suggestions. Oosok is actually correct. I am using "Nature" to mean somewhat groomed with dead materiel removed (juniper trees don't self prune like pines so they have dead branches all the way to the ground) and partially raked (yup, I have hand raked most of...

Which is most similar to a garden rake

Thank you all. It sounds like neither a landscape rake or a pine straw rake is the right tool for that job. So I will probably just hand rake it.

Which is most similar to a garden rake

Groundcover - Uh, wouldn't I need a grapple (and a third remote) to use that fancy tool? BlueKnife - In our country (picture S. Idaho), thick layers of bark really isn't so "natural". Probably take about 10 years to break down too. It isn't a very large area....maybe 50' x 70'. rScotty - I...

Which is most similar to a garden rake

Hi, Trying to restore an area back to natural (Central Oregon High Desert terrain) with as little damage to the ground and nearby vegetation as possible after cutting up a bunch of logs. There are lots of small pieces of bark and small branches that I would like to collect and burn (or haul...

Can you guys help me select the right snow removal implement for my specific application ?

OP. What did you end up getting? I use a rear blade with a heavy rubber edge. Works like a squeegee and, shortly after the sun comes out, the asphalt is dry. Looks like winter is headed our way (I'm in the Tumalo area), but have yet to prep the tractor for snow removal.

[KUBOTA B3200] Grader Blade / Box Blade Recommendation for Driveway Maintenance

I wonder how much it would cost to have someone come in with the right tools to do the job? Might actually be less expensive in the long run. Then, after the road has been properly constructed, you can use your tractor to maintain it. I know money can be tight, but IMO, I would consider...

Cheap heat for uncabbed tractor plus intake preheat?

I was thinking about putting a seat heater in my tractor seat. I put two in my open cab (though there is a roof) UTV and they work great. I have an aftermarket heater (blowing hot air) in the UTV too, but between the two, the heated seats is by far the better improvement.....and costs a...

    Plowing County Road??

You probably have similar snow (dry) to us here in Central Oregon. And sometimes, on the bigger snow events, the county doesn't have the time to get out here either. Usually there is enough traffic that the road gets packed down within a day or so. But if I felt that I needed/wanted access...

How to use a Grader Scraper

I completed my driveway and and parking area the other day by renting a roller/vibratory compactor. Now it's pretty smooth (not quite as smooth as an asphalt road, but really close). Will see how long it lasts. My notes on using the Landplane. These notes are based on what I have heard...

How to use a Grader Scraper

Ljjhouser; From what I am learning here, I think you said it the best: "Both land planes and box blades take practice. Neither one is a one pass job. Relax and take your time." First snow of the year here in Central Oregon this morning. Pretty soon it's gonna be time to put on the rear...

How to use a Grader Scraper

BlueMule, RuffDog, and Scootr; Thank you. Your comments seem to mirror my experience exactly. I do not have a box blade and after purchasing the Grader Scraper I won't be able to get one either (shot my wad on the GS.....based mainly on recommendations from this site). Went out this morning...

How to use a Grader Scraper

How to use a Grader Scraper

Roustabout; By "set the lift", do you mean that I should hold the implement up a little with the three point and not let it ride on the ground? To all who have asked for pictures; I have finished the first round (thanks to a hand rake) so if I go out there and screw with it again to get a...

How to use a Grader Scraper

Yes, same thing as the Landpride Landplane. By spilling over the sides, I mean the sides of the implement. Not just the blades. The driver spread the gravel as he drove. More was deposited in the center of the road than on the edges though necessitating I move it some laterally. So...

How to use a Grader Scraper

After almost three years of "thinking about it", I finally purchased a Rankin GS-5 Grader Scraper (aka; Landplane) for my Kubota L2501. Yes, it is a lot easier than trying to use the bucket or rear blade. However, it isn't quite as easy as I had anticipated. But maybe I am not using it...

    My take on driveway gates

I am in the process of putting a gate up on my driveway too. A product that I am looking at for gate control is the Remootio. I put one on my garage and am impressed and I think the geofencing via bluetooth will be especially useful at the gate (just drive up and the gate opens for you). Anyway...

    PINE logs anyone?

I haven't read through this entire thread so if this has already suggested, sorry. Perhaps you could donate them to a local organization that helps people with less means heat their homes? Maybe an organization like the Boy Scouts (or whatever they are called now) would come out and haul them...

    Moving logs

Thanks for the information about the tongs. Good to know. Probably a great tool, but this is a one time job, so will probably use the tools that I have . Not in any rush as my 6 cord woodshed is full so if I moved them now, they would just be an eyesore that much closer to my house. As I...

    Moving logs

Hi, A row of 100 YO pines, on my neighbors property near the property line, is being cut down , limbed, and cut into ~12' lengths. They were hauling them away, but when I spoke to the loggers today, they offered them to me. So the logs are now being stacked on my property (they...

    Spreading wood chips

Hello, Tractor owner since last fall and finally, my first post here. I plan to put down a wood chip access road (to a future RV/raft/tractor barn). I realize that gravel is much more durable, longer lasting, and less expensive (here), but I prefer the softer look of chips. I have a couple...
