6ft Rotory Tiller not getting job done

I have 30hp at the PTO, on 6. Not an issue if you rip the grass with a subsoiler first. The Hydro lets you creep along at about 1km/h so its done in one pass to full depth. I think the biggest mistake with a rototiller is just trying to go too fast.

6ft Rotory Tiller not getting job done

I have the same tiller also known as chinese yct-066, Its all right enough. But in new areas I always go for an explore with the subsoiler in two directions first, finds all the big rocks!

    JDQA Bucket Pin Actuator

I put some time in this winter to fixing the the John Deere quick tach manual pins only issue. Finally warm enough to install and start testing it out, worked well changed the bucket a couple dozen times before it got dark.

Would a zero turn be faster than a B2601?

Good lesson in not modifying and maintaining the shear bolt / slip clutch mechanism on the PTO shaft. Tough transmission though.

Would a zero turn be faster than a B2601?

If you are cutting a large lawn auto steer is a nice option, it may seem silly but only overlapping only 10cm saves a pile of fuel and time. Plus it does the turns and headlands automatically. Not to mention the finished result looks pretty good.

Would a zero turn be faster than a B2601?

Zero turn is great if you have tons of obstacles. The gas powered ones are fast but eat fuel like crazy. If you have long straight runs zero turn gets to be a chore to control. Zero turn is a one trick pony only cuts grass. If your area is predominantly open a little diesel tractor is much more...

What are the most reliable tractors to own?

The new ones are the most reliable, until they are not. Reliability takes maintenance, so any brand that has parts readily available and somewhat generic is the best pick.

Would you buy a 30 year old truck with 51 miles on it?

But you can always buy the new model year, before the end of the actual year. I bought a 2010 cummins in the fall of 2009.

Would you buy a 30 year old truck with 51 miles on it?

Other than the old truck being a rolling oil leak from dried up seals, lets say all the rest worked. It will eat more fuel than two new ones. At current fuel prices the operational cost difference could be put towards a newer one. Also just like tractors the newer trucks are generally much more...

Compact Tractor Dealers Ignore Two-thirds of Their Potential Website Customers, Industry Survey Shows

When a dealer is selling lots of big stuff like combines, the commissions make them seem to forget the smaller transactions. Deere seems pretty good but you are paying top dollar no matter what. Buying small 3 point implements from most dealers is a painful experience over the phone. Much...
  17. Fielding

Do you take it to the dealer for maintenance or do it yourself.

Maintenance I like to do because it lets me know everything that is going on with the tractor. But big repairs are sometimes more cost effective at the dealer.

Why is Weight The Only Solution Being Offered To The Problem Of Traction?

Think about a train locomotive, smooth steel wheels on smooth steel rails. Weight should be proportional to the job. Ballast is your friend.

Why is Weight The Only Solution Being Offered To The Problem Of Traction?

Why are NFL linebackers not 90lbs? Its the Laws of Physics, not the theory of Physics. If you want to move 10tons, Its a lot easier if you have that much mass or more built in to the equipment doing the moving. Proper machine size and ballasting works wonders. Being very heavy but with...

What attachments should you use on a tractor to clear land.

I had a large bobcat come out, was $200/hr cdn operator and fuel included. It covered 2ac/8hr day through 12” poplars and brush. So $800 an acre or $1600 a day, it did not even leave stumps. Can’t cover the depreciation wrecking a mower even for that money. The hidden rocks he found, I am glad...

    TIER 4 Questions

Use ULSD, run within 80% to rated rpm, dont idle around, should have no worries. Tier 4 on a CUT is not bad because your running them hot enough doing most PTO tasks, like cutting the lawn. Run it like a power tool and not like a museum piece and you will be fine. We had a strech of -40C and...

    Studs for snow plowing

    Studs for snow plowing

Ballast is hugely important, If your too light you will just spin your tires. On a road compaction is not an issue, be as Heavy as practical. its much easier to move 10,000lbs of snow, if you weigh that much or more to start with. Cast iron weights are not sold as fashion accessories. Its also...

What do I look for in used tractor?

Look for shedded. Look for an old guy who bought it new and put 88hrs, and 6 oil changes through it in 5 years. That approach has worked for me. The 75hp and below units 50/50 end up being yard decorations. I do 300hrs a year even at that pace it will be a decade, and electric tractor time...

Chains for Goodyear Soft Trac Tires

Just a quick suggestion before chains, If your tires are at max inflation and the tread is high domed they will not grip great. Let the pressure out until the tire tread sits flatter on the ground. Makes a pile of difference, if that or ballast does not work add the chains.

    Common rail vs mechanical injection

Its the reason I started loving cummins, a coworker on a pipeline job was starting his at -25C not plugged in….. but no grid heater, he did not realize you had to wait to start, he would just turn the key past. I figured if the engine lasted as long as it did with no special treatment and no...

    Mahindra 1635 vs John Deere 3038 E & Kubota L3901

I have used it extensively in the woods skidding, the trees bounce off the plastic. Hydro static is very nice no gears always the right speed no shifting. Only problem to start was getting enough ballast in the right places the stock tractor is very light. Once that was fixed its a champ.

They probably burned up 12 hours easy, just loading and off loading, moving it from one side of the yard to the other, also they probably started it a few times to show its features to other customers at the dealership. out of a 10,000hr lifespan its 0.1%, its new.

Usually spot them in old timers yards melting with rust never alone usually a collection, they wont part them out, fix or scrap them they just sit there. Usually hoarding junk machinery is good alzheimers / dementia disease flag.

I would not go smaller than my 3038e on 10 acres. But if I go any larger frame size it would be completely useless as a lawn mower and garden tractor. Mostly depends what you are doing with it. But at 2200ft asl, Turbos make all the difference.
