    Farmtrac 60 steering cyl leak

Just a side note on this thread. Got the cylinder back together. If you spring for the cheap installation tool they are like razors around all the edges of the stamped parts. Wear gloves so you don’t shed blood like I did. They do make the work easier but not simple. I went ahead and ordered new...

    Farmtrac 60 steering cyl leak

I think the 5610 cylinder would be a simple install unless I am missing something. I think I have found one close by to measure. Those seal installation tools were best $16 I ever spent.

    Farmtrac 60 steering cyl leak

When your 72 and hands are eaten up with arthritis those teflon cup seals just don’t jump into the bore where they belong. Trick little rigs

Thanks to all. Especially Harry in Ky as the cylinder is apart and as soon as the Amazin truck runs I will be back tractoring.

    Farmtrac 60 steering cyl leak

The Ford 5610 has different tie rod ends arrangement. I think I could modify one to work if need be. Probably would be a good idea. The Ford cylinder is readily available at a reasonable price

Thanks for the reply sir. I think I might have found the answer to salvaging my original unit.

    Farmtrac 60 steering cyl leak

Well, I work on stuff. A lot of stuff. I stumble my way through. As I looked at this I knew it had to have seals on both sides of the piston because of the rod/cylinder arrangement. Got it. You ever been hot, nasty, frustrated and just need to step back? Happened to me.

    Farmtrac 60 steering cyl leak

You might have just solved my problem. I think I am looking at the bottom of the packing gland in the opposite end through the cylinder bore. The parting line for that end is almost invisible! Right next to a weld. I will chuck it up in the vise tomorrow and give her a crank. Thank you. Thank...

    Anyone with a Ford 5610

I am trying to source a replacement power steering cylinder for my Farmtrac 60. The 5610 looks really close. I might have to modify the end with male tie rod. Anyway. I need 2 measurements. With wheels straight ahead how much rod is extended from cylinder? What is the total length center of tie...

    Farmtrac 60 steering cyl leak

I have attached pics of cylinder and rod. The vent has no check valve. It is just open to atmosphere from inside the cylinder on the end away from the packing gland. The rod passes through the stepped down part of the cylinder. There is no bearing or seal in that area. I tried to show that area...

Bad Boy 28hp Perkins (Cat) diesel won’t start

Turned out it was the injector pump. Sent it to Mike The Pump Guy in SC. Super fast turnaround. Fair pricing. Mower runs better now than when new.

    It definitely is a vent.

    Farmtrac 60 steering cyl leak

My tractor is pouring fluid from a small hole or vent in the cylinder on the end away from the rod or rh side as it is mounted. The last time it leaked it was around the packing on the rod end. Can’t figure out what this is. Any help appreciated.

    Woods BB60

My gearbox is bad on my BB60. Woods has an updated gearbox but it requires a new crossbar at $580 in order to use it. Total cost to convert to newer box is $1800. The box is also slower speed. I can buy the guts for my existing box. Much cheaper. Question is how hard will it be to rebuild the...

Bad Boy 28hp Perkins (Cat) diesel won’t start

My mower was surging the last time I used it. Time for new fuel filters so I removed pre-filter(screen) and cartridge filter. Pre-filter screen was plugged up. Cleaned it. The screen is in a metal housing with plastic bowl. It has a drain and two vent plugs in the top. I took all three out prior...

12 volt fence charger life span

Tried to find a category that fits. This was my best guess. I have a Zareba 1 joule charger that is 12 years old or so. Been used sparingly. On a full battery charge the output checked at the terminals has dropped by 65-70%. Was wondering if this was normal failure mode and if anyone had seen...

    JD CT322 Hydaulic leak

Thought I would share this. Got the hose off this morning. No problem actually. Had a new hose made up locally. I told the folks there what my problem was around the hose bearing against the steel floor pan. They sold me some neat hose guards to try. The hose was also showing signs of wear where...

    JD CT322 Hydaulic leak

Good call. After starting it for a few seconds I could hear the leak due to the air in the lines. I popped the cab up and was able to see oil running down the pan. The hose busted on bottom side where it was pressed against the pan. I had a torn a tendon on my right middle finger which was...

    JD CT322 Hydaulic leak

Yes sir. Did the other side a few years back. Wasn’t easy. I do like knowing what is wrong so I can get started getting it back going instead of searching for the problem.

    JD CT322 Hydaulic leak

Found the leak. Left drive motor hyd hose. It was in a 90 degree bend and pressed against the belly pan. I couldn’t get my hand under it when I was feeling for a rupture. Not an easy fix but in the grand scheme of things it could have been worse.

    Woods BB60 gearbox rebuild

The replacement gearbox itself is not a bad price at around $475 from Woods. The parts to rebuild will get close to that as I have to replace everything but the shafts. The problem is the crossbar and blade attachment hardware that has to be replaced is another $600.

    JD CT322 Hydaulic leak

I replaced a hose to right hand drive early on. Less than 900 hours. Chafed on window through belly pan to drive motor. Just bugs me that I can’t find this one. I will get it. All the suggestions are appreciated.

    JD CT322 Hydaulic leak

We heard the pop while my son was bumping the left control stick in forward direction at idle. I was prying the track up onto the forward idler. Immediately heard gushing of oil in the pan. I have felt all the hoses I can access for exactly what was mentioned. The machine is in the mud. In the...

    JD CT322 Hydaulic leak

Yes sir. Going to try easiest path first. I can lower cab and crank it over briefly, raise cab and look. If nothing else it will probably eliminate some areas. Hard to believe I can’t see whatever busted. It drained the entire reservoir in a minute. We did hear a loud pop so I know it is...

    JD CT322 Hydaulic leak

I have had that suggested. I am not well versed on the interlocks in the hydraulic system that prevents any function from working until parking brake is disengaged. I was going to use a remote start button and try to spin the motor with cab up. Just don’t want it to mov because the control...

    JD CT322 Hydaulic leak

I am trying to locate a major hyd leak on this machine. It dumped all the hyd fluid out in the belly pan and after raising cab I can’t find a busted hose or fitting. Any suggestions on how to t-shoot? The only thing I know to do is fill reservoir and lower cab in order to spin the motor hoping...

    Woods BB60 gearbox rebuild

I have a older Woods rotary mower. My gearbox is toast. Anyone rebuilt one of these? I need gears, seals and bearings. My gearbox assy has been superseded with a new one from Woods. I have to buy a new gearbox, crossbar and blade pins in order to replace it. It also has slower blade speed than...

    Brush Cutter

Makes perfect sense. I ran lexan on my dirt cars in the day and it mars up at the least touch. High water content. I was going to use a small square at head level to hide behind. I understand exactly.

    Brush Cutter

Yes sir. I was thinking 1/4” expanded metal with 1/8” lexan covering most of that. Kind of reverse from factory door with metal skeleton.

    Brush Cutter

The machine is a track loader and I would be mounting on the front of the cab like a door. I don’t really care for the aftermarket enclosures and one from JD is stupid expensive. Was thinking expanded metal to get some air. A metal door shield sounds interesting. I had not run across that.

    Brush Cutter

I have a CT322 Deere. It doesn’t have an enclosed cab. Wanting to get a brush cutter to take care of the wooded area of my property. Was thinking about using expanded mesh with 1/8” lexan for a front shield while using the brush cutter. Thoughts??

    Farmtrac 60 Stabilizing chain

I contacted one of the suppliers on eBay that had stocked the part in the past. Hoping to get an idea of if and when they will have them. If not I will get the universal type and make them work. Farmtrac 60 Power Steering leak

Just finished rebuilding the power steering cylinder on my 2000 Farmtrac 60. Not an easy job but doable in one day. I got my parts from Robbie at Joe's tractor parts in N.C. Fast service. For anyone attempting the job when you get the rod out of the cylinder look at the parts kit and do not...
