Thanks! My son bought me up to speed on why it's important. Re location, we are just outside Warkworth. Unfortunately nothing to see now - the 2210 is all back together, and the driveshaft is buried!

My son was helping me with this (in reality, I was helping him), and HE knew why he was putting the alignment marks on!!

We were careful to keep the same alignment, but weren't at all sure this was important. Why is it?

Had a peek, and the 12n series appears to be the standard PTO splines, which are somewhat different. Am I missing something here?

Btw, have verified that I can get an 18mm longer shaft in. Moved the fan mounting boss out 18mm to reduce the space available, and could still assemble the back UV

15 splines. Needed the tractor in short order, so have reassembled it all with new uv's, but no driveshaft changes yet. The only change I've made in readiness for needing more room on the hst shaft, was to pare 4mm off the locating boss for the fan mount. This gives me another 4mm to play...
