    Rear ballast box

Well, I would agree that it seems like a lot of weight but it’s really not. Remember that it is not just the weight of the ballast but how far back it is ( the center of gravity)from the attachment pins. My 1600lbs ballast block with a center of gravity at 12” from the pins is no different than...

Source for 1/2"x72" cutting blade for Land Plane Build

I am in the process of building one myself and found a good deal at the local CAT dealer. The good thing was they will ship it free of charge to your nearest CAT dealer. I bought 7 footers for $75 each about 2 years ago. The current price is shown below. Good luck!

    Vise (vice) on ballast/counterweight?

Well, that would make them “double stolen”, because I came up with that design after reading a bunch of ballast block builds on this fine forum. I did a thread on the build called “3pt Concrete ballast build for logging/ firewood” in the Build it Yourself section. Good luck with your project.

    Vise (vice) on ballast/counterweight?

That pic shows it in the” I need a big vice in the back corner of the barn mode”. For wood cutting, I spin the mount 180 in the top receiver hitch. Or one can go in any of the 3 receivers on the back side of the block.

That’s a good friend and a high quality vise that are a pleasure to use. I think they look better wearing tractor colors. Here’s mine in New Holland blue.

    TC45DA Jumper Wire

It’s not the seat safety switch. That wiring runs on the top side of the fuel tank. But it looks identical to my 2001 TC45D which came like that when it was new.

Small reliable (low maintenance) irrigation system from pond?

A 4”pvc line connects the vertical pvc well casing to the pond 24” below the normal level of the pond. The 3” centrifugal pump hangs about 8’ deep in the 10’ casing. It’s been service for 3 years now with no maintenance or freezing issues. An in-line strainer takes care of any debris from the...

Small reliable (low maintenance) irrigation system from pond?

I had a similar situation although I did not have the 30’ elevation change between the pond and garden. I used a 3” 1/3hp 120v submersible pump that I put in a 4” pvc casing that was placed in a 10’ deep hole that was dug next to the garden.

    3pt ballast design questions

I ended up using approximately half of my tractors 3 point lift capacity on my ballast build. My New Holland TC45D has a 3pt rating of 3275lbs at the pins and 2330lbs at 24” behind the pins. I chose a target weight of 1500 -1600 lbs with a center of gravity at 12” behind the pins. A key factor...

My New Holland Workmaster 37 (made by LS) has the same Shibaura N843 diesel. From the symptoms described you are in the Power Limitation Mode or Engine Shutdown Mode. 3rd Function hoses dragging - looking for a good solution

I had similar hose problems on my tree puller and grapple. Using a $3 hay rake tooth (spring) from the local farm store and some scrap steel I fabricated these. It was an advantage being able to make the height specific to the each application to deal with the amount of excess hose each...

3pt concrete ballast build for logging/firewood

I could not even estimate as it was just a fun project that got worked on when I felt like it with no particular schedule on getting it done. I did let the concrete sit for two months to allow it to cure. The metal work was completed over the course of a couple weeks.

3pt concrete ballast build for logging/firewood

The vise mounts on the vertical tube of the 3pt using a receiver fixture that replaces the cap. The HF tire changer has a section of 2” tubing welded to it and gets plugged in the receiver hitch on the backside of the ballast. It’s held tight by the pinch bolt on the receiver.

3pt concrete ballast build for logging/firewood

Here it is with the ammo cans and chainsaw mounts installed. The chainsaw mounts were fabricated from plywood sandwiched between some 14ga sheet metal...

3pt concrete ballast build for logging/firewood

Final assembly is always the fun part. I made up some short receiver hitches (4” long) out of 2-1/2” square tubing and welded them in place. These will be used for the chainsaw mounts. I installed some chain hooks and a D ring on the center plate which is also tied to the 3pt framework. On the...

3pt concrete ballast build for logging/firewood

Here’s where I stick welded 1/2” plate (drilled beforehand) to the 3pt frame so It can be pin on the tractor. I also painted it up using some ancient (20+ year old) 2 part epoxy paint. I was surprised that paint still worked but it did take forever to dry.

3pt concrete ballast build for logging/firewood

I have used my box blade (550lbs) as ballast on my New Holland TC45D with a grapple for handling logs while woodcutting for many years. It never felt heavy enough with the bigger stuff (12” and up) and at 78” wide it was cumbersome in tight areas. So I decided it was time to build a heavier but...

    TN75 Power Shuttle Safety Issue

    TZD25a

My Workmaster 37 does the same thing. I think it’s caused by the higher viscosity of the ambient temperature hydraulic fluid on startup causing the systems pressure relief valve to chatter. I bought a 2005 TN60DA 16 speed Power shuttle (same tractor without the turbo) in 2018 with 505 hours and the factory seat had already been replaced. 2019 NH Workmaster 33 - engine shuts off with throttle

Look to see if the shutdown lamp is light. The 30 second run time could be a sign your tractor ECU is in shutdown mode due to a failed sensor or a soot overloaded DPF. See attached pic from the manual

converting 3pt splitter to pull behind

If it were mine I would swap them. Note that on my splitter mod I had to reinforce the end of the I-beam with 1/2” plate to strengthen it and allow for a section of 4” -1/4” wall tube steel to be welded to it to lengthen the frame to support the out-feed table. Yours is already done if just cut...

converting 3pt splitter to pull behind

I used the wheel on my log lifter because I had built the lifter frame geometry with larger angle from vertical which makes it longer and the less steep. It allows me to load 6 or more logs on it at one before lifting. This also causes the end of the lifter frame to extend past the wheelbase...

converting 3pt splitter to pull behind

The relief valve pressure was unchanged from the Prince valve factory setting of 2250 psi. I have never tried a 4 way splitter as the single splitter wedge is plenty fast for me and gives me good control on each log size. The hydraulic pressure observed on the gage rarely exceeds 1500 psi during...

converting 3pt splitter to pull behind

I converted my Northern Tool 3pt to a stand alone splitter. It was good as a 3pt unit but I did not like having my tractor tied up running the splitter. My 861 started cutting out and stalling. any ideas?

Those 800 series Fords were known for having vapor lock problems (fuel boiling in the fuel line). Gas line reroutes with horizontal runs and missing heat shields are some of the causes. Ethanol in gasoline has also been a contributor. A totally full gas tank would minimize it (by increasing the...

    Early observations, Workmaster 40
