haha, my friend actually bought some of that tire black to shine up the tires, but I thought that would be over the top. Now I am going to use it. Pics to follow..:p

My winter Project: Kubota B8200 resto

The bucket was too far gone. It is hard to see on the pictures, but the bottom is pretty much all worn off and already welded a couple of times. Putting all the energy in it didn't seem worth it. It was easier just to order a new one.

My winter Project: Kubota B8200 resto

By the way, the old guy in the picture comes over every day to check out the progress. He is in his eighties and is an old school tech guy, he really know everything there is to know about engines and such. He gave us some great tips, not only on the tractor but also on the car I did before this...

My winter Project: Kubota B8200 resto

You should, they are great little machines. Nice old school tractors, not at all like my new B2620. A B8200 is well made and simple, even I can understand how everything works. :confused2:

Thanks guys. It is a fun project. @Diamondpilot; Our B also works in the marine business. It has a hard life, but it works great. The loader is finally on the tractor. And everything works! A new bucket is on order and we will also replace the seat.

We are still working on the B82000 and it is looking good. The tractor is basically finished. A few small things to do like a good test run and changing fluids etc but nothing major. Next on the agenda is the loader. It is painted and ready to be put together again. We will clear coat it (like...

Here's a little update on the restoration of the old b8200. We are still at it. As always, it turns out to be a lot more work then anticipated. It's coming, but it is a slow process. We haven't been too lucky with finding parts, the plastic grill being the biggest problem. I will make some...

We have been spending some time on our little Japanese friend . (updated pics in the gallery) I have been working on the FEL frame and sanding and griniding down some loose parts to bare metal. My winter Project: Kubota B8200 resto

I know it might not be a vintage tractor, but my friend has a Kubota B8200, built in 1984 (I think). It has been used hard and it blew a head gasket last week. We replaced it and then decided to turn it into a total restoration. He has been using it on a daily basis for -at least- 20 years. The...

    Chainsaw selection... ideas?

I have a Shindaiwa 490 pro. Made in Japan and I love it. Starts immediately no matter how cold it is. And it is good on fuel too. I started out with a Poulin, but wasn't happy with it. It kept on quitting on me and after one day I was so aggravated I threw it in the woods and bought the...

    Glad I purchased my Kubotas

I am happy with mine. Seems to be a solid product. I bought it based on my friends experience. He has a marina and uses his Kubota about 6 hours a day, 6 days a week and all year long. And he has been doing this since 1985, without any major problem or repair. His hour meter stopped working...

    My B2620 experiences.

If I lower the box all the way, it will not touch the ground. I am planning on making some piece of wood with wheels so that when I take it off, I can move it around and out of the way. Now I know these warning are all well meant, but come on, please, I am a responsible 46 year old man who has...

    My B2620 experiences.

My 'Amish shed' project had to wait today. It is out in the open and it is raining. No sense in getting all wet when there is stuff to do in the woods too. I started making the trail it last year but got stuck due to lack of good tools. There is a ridge that I filled up as much a possible with...

Extended warranty is it worth it?

+1 Companies that offer an extended warranty or insurance basically try to cash in on fear. "what will happen if ...." Nobody knows, so why worry about it. I use my common sense and try not to abuse whatever you use. If it breaks after my basic warranty, I just pay out of my own pocket and...

    My B2620 experiences.

I got 8 or 9 nails out of the tires. 6 of them punctured all 4 tires. Way to go, T. As for the flak, I don't mind. I happy to take in advice. I do know that the ROPS should be up and the FEL down. The tractor is plastered with all kinds of warnings, pretty much overkill if you ask me. By the...

Cool pictures! Can't wait until mine is delivered. I am still not sure about loading the tires. I will also be driving over my lawn and I don't want to leave to many marks when I do. I have a ballast box, shouldn't that be enough? I am planning on getting a hoe, which pretty much fixes all...

Just bought myself a new Kubotaaaaah!

That might be an idea, thanks. I'll pop over to the dealer and suggest that. But is a box blade not a lot more expensive then a ballast box? I got the ballast box for something like $100. I imagine a box blade would be a lot more, even if they discount it.

Just bought myself a new Kubotaaaaah!

Just a FEL for now (an a ballast box, but that is probably not what you mean by attachment). It is basically the only attachment I have. :o But I am sure many will follow. A friend of mine has a bush hog which I am planning on using. My lawn is too cluttered to get the most out of a MMM, so...

Just bought myself a new Kubotaaaaah!

Thanks! A BH65 is next on the list but I will have to do some saving, they don't come cheap. Are there any (cheap) updates I should consider? I was thinking of welding some hooks on the FEL so that I can lift some stiff with a chain.

    Hi there, new from Ontario

Hi there guys and galls, I have been looking to buy a compact tractor, did some research and ended up here. Lots of great info. I have narrowed my search down to a (new) Kubota B series, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have 12 acres of land, mostly woods, some grass and a few hills...

Great write-up. It has been very helpful. I am in the process of buying a compact tractor and narrowed it down to a Kubota B or BX. You convinced me that the B is the better choice (for me). Thank you:thumbsup:
