    Pressure gauge for FEL.

So I have my gauge. I head to the service advisor at the dealer asking where I should put it. "Can you show me the correct place to tee it into a line. Guy didn't have a clue but he was trying. He said these things come in all assembled. We just bolt them on to the tractors. After some...

    J_J got a minute?

I'm attempting to get a better grip on hydraulics. A post you made on a dfkrug thread stated "You have the cracking pressure which starts to open the relief, and then you have the full relief pressure. The cracking pressure will be higher. It should be relieving fully while you are adjusting."...

    Tree Felling danger

So I was going about my usual logging. I was cutting an ash bout 18" at the butt. The tree was leaner so I was confident of direction of fall. Before I finished the cut the tree "BLEW UP". Never seen anything like it. Once my razor sharp reflexes kicked in I fell backwards and planted my...

    tractor logging winch

I'm looking at Farmi, Fransgard and such. I have read a few reports these can be a pain because it doesn't take much to get the log hung up on something. They require a bit of tending to. Anyone able to comment on this?

    I just want to cry

My -used to be invincible - 35 ton Huskee log splitter quit. No longer retracts. Called Huskee, ordered and received the 'O' ring replacement kit for the valve. I've never been in a hydraulic valve before but I ignorantly convince myself, how hard can it be? I lay everything out on a towel...

    3038 no start

Guys, my 3038e is 'no start'. Just clicking. I cleaned the terminals, cleaned the grounding strap, charged the battery, added a jump battery - still just clicking. Plenty of available power to start. Sudden onstart of this condition. Any ideas what to check next?

    Wood Splitter Mod

I have a Huskee 35 ton (wicked good used deal). I split by myself and it would be such a time saver if the split function would continue on its own like the retract function does. I realize the safety implications so lets not go in that direction. What modification would put a 'detent' on the...

Do old guys need nail guns?

I keep running into it but I keep dismissing it. I learned how to nail at 19 years of age while building FHA housing in the Portland area. Nail guns hadn't been invented yet. When nailing off a floor there was a skill that had to be learned and it 'wernt' easy. One had to learn to 'roll'...

I have just recieved the 'go' from 'she who manages the checkbook' to get a Stihl Kombi. My question is which power head. A local Stihl dealer sugested the KM 90 (I'm thinking because he has it in stock). Just don't want to end up with something too wimpy. First two tools will be a brush...

    Preventing tractor back flip

I was having a discussion with a friend. Situation - a chain is attached from the bottom drawbar (several inches below the center of rotation) to an immovable object. My contention is the front wheels are being driven into the ground. Hence, no wheelie. He says it will still wheelie the...

    I give up dave1949

I'm just getting back. Thought I had an idea of where you were. I grabbed the walker and headed over Gridiron hill, up past Shaw Hill, took a right at Goodrich Corner and headed out to Wing's Farm. Thought I might come accross a sign saying, 'Dave Lives Here', but you weren't there. Neither...

    air compressor repair

My 25 year old, 30 gallon air compressor developed a rust hole. I ground down to clean metal and used a brazing rod with my torch and produced a what appeared to be proper repair. Not. Air is seeping out of the repair. Three attempts have produced the same result. I removed all obstructions...

    General question

Being a group of generally smart people here I would like to throw out a couple of questions that I'm stumped on. It relates back to that tv show on quantum physics. 1. What's on the other side of infinity? 2. What was going on in the minutes just before the big bang? This one is not as...

How can an intelligent left brained person successfully perform a task they don't believe in? I just can't get my brain around how a human is capable of detecting water underground. But it works. I'm in the process of tracing a vein for a pond. I'm using coat hangers bent at a right angle...

    looking to buy splitter

So wifey and I went to look at a splitter. We're getting to old to do the 'rent for a day and kill youself to get it all done'. This appeared to be a good splitter but (I don't smoke) you could have a cigarette by the time it cycled. Too bad. I'm learning by reading the posts here. I thought...

    beefing up my bucket

Hi all, Tasks of late are proving my new 3038 quite admirable. It appears, in my case anyway, there is an adjustment period between saying goodbye to an old friend (kubota 8200) and accepting the new. One thing I need to do is add some rigidity to the top of the bucket. The dealer I bought...

    Pushing out with FEL

I got stuck with my 3038 the other day where my driveway drops off quick. With My old Kubota B8200 I could put the FEL all the way to dump, drop straight down and curl the bucket to push the tractor back out. I tried that with the Deere and curling the bucket wouldn't do it. Just chattered...
