Just bought a used 155C with 190 hours on it. Looking for the following manuals:
1) Operator- OMGX21821
2) Parts- PL9538
3) Technical Manual- TM2328
It has a ticking sound from one the pulleys on the transmission belt. Plan to replace belts and such, but wonder if pulley is shot as well
98 John Deere 1070. approx 900 hours. What kind of interval should I be changing the hydraulic fluid? I want to change the filter for sure, but as the transmission and hydraulic is one system, I wonder if it's time to change the fluid.
My tractor goes into gear very slow and I think a clutch adjustment is in order. Any one have the tech repair manual who would like to share this secction on? I have ordered a I&T manual, but still waiting. Any input?
Ok starting a new project that has to be done a in operation before winter really hits. I am looking to build a well to service a barn of three horses using the concrete well tile rings. I have plenty of water on my property so I know it will take water. I need all the information I can get from...
For the last couple of years I plow about 750 foot up hill gravel driveway with backblade and FEL. I have been seroiusly thinking about a rear mounted PTO snowblower. Any one use them on gravel drive. Any input?? Suggestions?
OK did a real stupid thing this weekend to the "Big Green Sexy"!! A friend and I have been taking some big pines old pines down that were leaning over the house. We tied them off to the tractor with a good solid logging rope. All went well until we took down one and it was pretty rotted, before...
I was getting the big green sexy (98 JD 1070 600 +/- hours) ready for this next blast of snow last and noticed I was a bit low on antifreeze. Not much, but low. I did notice a couple of weeks ago a wiff of antifreeze. Head gasket issue maybe? It doesn't overheat at all.
I noticed a spark on the right side (sitting on the seat) of my tractor when I started her last. I had a friend start it so I could actually see where the spark was. It came from a rusted bolt, maybe the ground for the battery, on the right side. The bolt actually got red! I tried to start her...
Gentlemen,
Looking at the idea of installing (using my tractor!!!) an outdoor wood furnace to my existing forced hot air system, as well as my existing electric water heater. I have a list of manufacturers, but thought I would get some input using all the experience here before calling. All...
I was doing some well needed brush hoging last week, and was wondering if anyone thought of putting wheels on the front side of the hog to help from scalping. When I hog I am constantly looking back adjusting the 3ph to keep level cut as my land is all over the place. Dont the finish mowers have...
A friend has recently told me it is best to leave your tractor with FEL up a bit as well as 3PH while tractor is resting. I always tend to set them in down position relieving the hydro pressure. Comments?
I had to make a few changes to my grapple. I bent up the bucket pretty good. I took a 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 1/2" angle and welded it along the entire bottom side of the bucket. The arm connection at the bucket braket bent a bit as well. I tried ti get away with only (2) large bolts on the end. I...

Love this new add to the forum. Helps me with the spelling of hydraulic. hehehe
Any hoot, I was just looking through and I was thinking. I have the rear remotes which I use mostly for my back hoe, and I am getting started on an old customization thread to build a grapple. I'm just wondering the...
I was working with the FEL last night and my backhoe kept creeping down more than usual. What would cause something like that? Should I be alarmed? I didn't have a chance to look at it close, but I will tonight.
Well I have jumped off my grapple build in order to do something with my driveway. The mud has finally took over. In order to give you guys the whole picture story I set up a yahoo photo album.

This is my driveway as it exists currently from the road all the...
Well, this is the first time my JD1070 has needed a part since I have owned it. I was doing some work to my driveway to save it from the great ground thaw. My flexible curl cylinder hose on the supply side busted on the left side from dry rot. Not having any knowledge with hydraulics, I figured...
Let me know what you guys think. Still in the design stage, but she is close. I made this to fit my current bucket even though it's kinda small. I want this to be on and working for spring cleanup, so I figured in order to keep the budget down I will keep the small bucket for now and build a...
Anyone invest in the publications for their machines? I have the operators manual, but looking into the parts catalog and tech service manual. Is is worth it? Anyone own the CD's?
Ok, I don't want to beat a dead horse. I have read all the threads on lights. Some really great ideas. I just want to get this right the first time. I bought (5) 55 watt lights from Harbor Freight. Since my JD 1070 has the stock 20 amp alternator I may only be able to use them separately (275...
I bought a house w/ 5 acres 2 years ago. I have done alot to the house and now I would like to address my pond. It's small, but the previous owner said it was spring fed. I tend to just let the things he says to go in one ear and out the other because of past experience with him. The pond, like...
Hello All,
I have a 99 JD 1070 4wd with a 440 loader and a 8b hoe. The gear range lever shows three gear ranges on the top. It show 1 in the front N then 2 & 3 in the back. Being new to the tractor world I didn't start playing with the range too much until now. I have been playing with a brush...
I have a 99 1070 JD w/ 440 FEL and 8B hoe. I took off my backhoe and I hooked up the 3 point hitch for the first time. It went good, I think I will be able to do it quicker next time. I installed the brush hog, and it works like a champ. I went though a couple of shear bolts though. It says to...
I am new to the tractor world, and I want to keep my machine lubed properly. I found all the spots from the manual. How many pumps should go in each fitting. What do you do if a fitting is stuck, and greese wont go in?

Well, now I am just waiting on the money men to all shake hands. I have learned so much from this web site. I hope I can help out after I graduate into actually owning a tractor. There are so many projects I have in mind. The " honey do" list continues. I can't wait for the help of my new toy, i...
Well, I think I am finally ready to make the jump. I have been toying with it for some time. I am looking at a 1998 4wd 1070 with a 440 bucket loader and a 8b backhoe w/ 500 hrs. I have managed to talk the dealer down to $18,000. Just wondering how I did. Ready to sign up.
