when is the best time of year to buy a tractor

I suspect it would also depend on the area where you live and demand vs supply for a tractor the size you are looking for in that area. Another factor might be number of reputable dealers selling tractors of that size.

Sodo Not sure on how your dump trailer is supposed to operate but can you get access to take pictures of power from different sides. deer 725 Kawasaki motor FD501V died ideas?

Double check your water pump while you have it apart. Some models of water pumps could leak internally into crankcase before showing anything external. This would lead to scored bearings from lack of lubrication. I do not recall which Kawi models or Deere models had this design.

Dump trailer bounces on the way down (if coming down heavy)

Yes valves can be overcome by flow forces. I suspect there is also some form of speed control - flow restrictor in that unit to try and control - limit dump speed when loaded. If not the drop speed would change significantly between empty and loaded. Is this a “sudden” new problem? I should...

Where to focus? (hydraulic motor seal question)

Item #1 appears to be the shaft so it is also a suspect as a point of leakage. Since this motor does not appear to have a case drain there must also be some form of high pressure seals to prevent high pressure oil getting to item #1 unless that is not a conventional lip type shaft seal.

  29. O

Dump trailer bounces on the way down (if coming down heavy)

Air makes things bounce when trapped but since he is lowering air would be less likely to cause bounce since load induced pressure should not be changing significantly. Yes it would bounce like a pogo stick if you stopped lowering.
